Actually Bear.... I am not sure which anime I remember.... could have been a battleship (I do think it had a red bottom) but it was a spaceship. The pics from Marine Boy didn't look familiar.

Googling Images for Marine Boy was kinda frightening though.... so I am gonna just be comfortable with not knowing.

Well... the story behind "Space Cruiser Yamato" was that the WW2 Japanese battleship Yamato was raised from where it had been sunk and refitted as a spaceship. Check out this page for more info...
