I love Miami.

But strangely, after living here 30 years, I am really starting to miss winter, and especially fall.

My daughter thinks one winter up north would cure me of that, but I'm not so sure. I find winter time to be beautiful and poetic.

Of course central VA, where I grew up, while it has a real winter, has much less of one than upstate New York.

Look at these turbines, which we found in the snow, on the windy day. The looked ghostly then, in the grey sky, not like they do in the picture below. They are something like 350 feet tall, the diameter of the screws are 250 feet, about.

Funny now how wind power is now *hated* by environmentalists because it kills a few birds. A couple of birds a year get whacked by the windmills and now it is among the environmentally *unfriendly* technologies, after spinning it for years as the answer to all of our problems. Dang, I wish they could make up their minds.

Next thing you now... they'll be pushing for nuclear power.
