You're very right about that. Too many companies think it improves security to require complex and long passwords and frequent changes without duplicates. All it really does is make people write their password down, and most of them do it by putting a sticky-note up under the keyboard.

I have my padlock for the gym locker on my gym bag. Actually now I have two because in the interim when I was not being fitness dwarf, I forgot the combination for the old one.
Remembered to put the new one somewhere where I wouldn't forget...but I don't remember where that was...but at least I still remember that combination.
Yet another reason to invest in a good pair of bolt cutters.
