All the info on requirements should be in their guide book... That's true. The books spell things out pretty well.
Jr. did Cub Scouts up thru Webelos and about the first year of scouting. There were issues though with the troop we chose to go to. We switched and that was no better. We eventually dropped it because we had enough other stuff going on.
Our church denomination has a scouting program called "Royal Rangers." They meet as the regular Wednesday evening program for boys (girls have a similar program). We'll send Luke through that.

The Assemblies of God churches I attended used the same program as what you mentioned. My mom made me participate in the girls' program for a while until I was smart-alecky enough that she realized I was bored out of my skull.. the girls' program was all making little crafts - which I hated - or learning really basic bible stories that we'd had in Sunday School three times already.
Also the other girls all went to the same school and decided I was going to be the "outsider" to their little group.
I understand the boys' program was signifigantly better.
