The main thing was that the doctors and nurses didn't get up to near the hijinks portrayed in the movie and TV show. They just didn't have the time! They were dealing with battlefield injuries which were the worst because those men couldn't be flown any further without dying. Those MASH units had a phenomenal survival rate!
