Ah... I see. Hmm, maybe you should give that baby a few extra feedings and get her over the weight limit... (just kidding, of course!)

Do you know any families in your area who might loan you an old carseat for those few months?

Also, this carseat was manufactured/purchased in 1998. So it is on the verge of retirement :) The old ones, like the one my mother used with me, didn't have this issue. They were all metal with fabric covering/padding. Hmm, wonder whatever happened to that one. Garage sale prolly. Which incidentally, is a good place to look for something a bit cheaper.

Here is what I have found so far for Graco products. Listed by style, model number and then price.

complete Travelsystem: LiteRider 320 7320 $129.99
possible compatible strollers: LiteRider 6710 $49.99; 6907 $49.99
SnugRide infant carseats: 8642 $59.99; 8610 $69.99; 8643 $69.99; 8645 $79.99
*note- these are the inexpensive items. The avg price on most of the new duds is much higher on all three counts.

If I tried to make a combination, the seat and the stroller would not match. Big deal. If I only buy a stroller anyway, it won't match. Not worried there. I don't think buying separate/non-matching is going to make a big difference from buying the complete system, except for maybe in sales tax.
