The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

You know, when I lost my job at Troy Corp, I was devastated. In hindsight though, I realize that God provided me the job at Troy to get me through one of the most difficult parts of my life (divorce, unmarried pregnancy, etc) when I needed a flexible, considerate boss and plenty of "down time".When did all this happen?? Man, I need to pay more attention!
Ruthie, honestly, I had no idea! I'm so sorry! (and here *I* am, whining!)

Bummer about the hours, but kudos about the contract!!
I was telling WN last night that I'm gonna try to get to Texas in the late summer / early fall just before school starts (so I can bring Becky along).
If I can swing it, I'd love to meet you and Rose!

No, not at all! You
were paying attention.
I kept very, very quiet about the whole thing for reasons that will not be expressed on the thread in respects to privacy.
The years 2000-2002 were rough on me emotionally, but they also brought me to Free Republic which eventually brought me to the Hobbit Hole. Without all of you, I don't dare think were I'd be!!

I know exactly what you mean.
Although I don't post here as often as I'd like, I'm very grateful for all of you here at the Hobbit Hole.
You guys were here for me through 2 job losses, 3 misscarriages, all of Jess' numerous surgeries, a life-changing relocation...all of it.
And you, especially...keeping me well-fed with breakfasts and lunchies! :-)
FRiends are great!
*shucks*

To quote 'Shadow' from "Bear in the Big Blue House":
"Well, I'm off!"
It's gettin' past my bedtime, and I've got to get up at 6:30 tomorrow to help my buddy do some re-wiring in the latest house he's renovating. Electrical in the morning, drywall hanging in the afternoon (18 sheets of drywall need to be humped up 3 flights of stairs to the top floor...God give me strength...lol)
'Nite!

And yet some folks still scoff and say "There is no God."
I'm living proof that there is!! He's kept me alive and guided me to friends in unexpected places.

Good evening...
What's a Voice Mail computer, and why do you have one? If I may ask...
To: ItsOurTimeNow
You've got a full day ahead of you! Whew!
Have a good night, Seamus.
May you sleep both
uninterrupted and deep. :-)

My job is to manage this voice mail system. It is a huge system capable of thousands of numbers.... not a personal home machine.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Sorry Bear, I hate to be really vague.... but that is as specific as I wanna be on the forum.... ;~D
To: HairOfTheDog
No problemo, I understand.

OK, I'm once again very highly ticked off. Was supposed to pick up several siblings and their friends and take them home after the movie tonight - Dad woulda, but he's on call, and the beeper doesn't work well that far from his work, so he needed to be close to the phone. All well and good.
The movie ended forty minutes ago. I spent much of that time trying to find them. Finally Bill called and let me know they got a ride with a friend's Mom - who has a big rear wheel drive van and a little baby and shouldn't have to drive the back way out to the house late at night. Meanwhile I've wasted much of MY time trying to find people and I'm het up again.
If they were a few years younger and I was a parent rather than a sibling, I think a paddle would come in handy right about now. Even as it is, I wouldn't mind driving out there with one.
If this was a one time occurrance it'd be one thing, but it isn't.

Well then,
next time they'll have to make their own travel arrangements that don't include you since they obviously aren't being very considerate.
They're old enough to know better, Rosie. And you are way too young to have to fret over what your siblings are doing rather than going out and enjoying yourself!

Hi, all; haven't had much chance to post today, got a little chance to check in now.
Rosie, how old are the siblings doing this? Based on my experience with that type of thing, I'd venture to guess that until they get old enough to have to drive others themselves (or to have to do something similar for others) and know what it's like to be inconvenienced by someone else like that, they won't be able to appreciate what you're doing for them or how it inconveniences you when they do that type of thing. Unfortunately I suspect the only luck you're going to have getting them to improve is if you stop driving them for a while and afterwords start a new policy that every time they do that, you won't drive them.
To: RMDupree
This time DAD asked me, as a favor to him since he couldn't get them. So HE'S ticked off that they just did their own thing without even the courtesy of calling to let me know they made other plans.
I don't have anywhere to go out TO on my own. Maybe that's part of the trouble. But there isn't anywhere here.
I'm kinda hitting a down spot, but I know it's really over silly stuff. Other people are looking for jobs and dealing with real family problems, and I whine about the lack of social events and my pesky siblings. Not really a big deal, I guess, but it can still be depressing at times.
