The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Hi there! I'm not even going to try to catch up today. Are you still around? In SF still? Safe? (meaning not clubbed over the head and dragged to the courthouse)

A couple of birds a year get whacked by the windmills and now it is among the environmentally *unfriendly* technologies, after spinning it for years as the answer to all of our problems.

That's one I hadn't heard yet. It'll teach me to think I've heard it all! Heck! I grew up with windmills all around - to pump water for cattle. Who'd o' thought it was so "unfriendly."

Why don't you come down here and let's go to Mardi Gras?

Yep! I saw those pics first thing when I got home! I posted to Hair how nice it looks.

I like rock. Think it makes dang fine building material for *lots* of stuff. I love the old rock farmhouses they have down in the hill country of Texas. And I like using it for landscaping around my flower and herb beds.

Thanks for the explanation, I was curious about the tides.

I am glad to hear to have the confirmed the proverb about time and tides, time I am familiar with but tides, well, it takes a couple three days of driving to find one. :-)

No, I missed it all. Been fighting off a bit of a cold the last couple days, so your dad wouldn't let me be in the house with D. :-(

You'll love all the video Dad took.... He did a good job filming. Brian operated that claw like it was one of his hands...

Really?--that's bad news :-( I had heard that some of Christopher Lee's scenes were filmed and would be included and I was really looking forward to it. If they're not going to be in it I'm really bummed :-(

Think I need a pint to cheer me up after hearing the Scouring won't be in the movie--LOL! Oh, well, at least John Rhys-Davies will be on "Dennis Miller" in a half hour.

Logging off soon here--g'night all!

The main reason it wasn't included is that it would seem too anticlimactic... after the big battle of Helm's Deep, and the big battle of Pellennor Fields, and the destruction of the ring, to come home and have a minor skirmish with hobbits and ruffians would be just too much. But there will be more Christopher Lee in the EE.

Good night!

OMG... I'm back in my room. But while I was turning on the TV and then talking to housekeeping on the phone to get some more coffee for my room... I accidently had what I think was one of the Survivor shows on the TV.

Is this show as completely vacant of content as it appears to be? I've heard all about it but I've never watched it before... and for the life of me, I can't imagine why anybody would ever forego a root canal to watch this show. The root canal would be marginally less painful, sure... but still...

So was it actually Survivor that you were watching, or one of the other shows?

Uh... I watched the first 2 avidly. The second was kinda a letdown. Didn't watch anymore after that.

But, here's the dirty little secret. While the first one was showing (it was awesome) they were picking people to do the 3rd show. I sent in the required forms and video and stuff to do it. Got called to do another video cause they liked me.

Instead..... I took this stupid job up here. And I coulda gone for 39 days without modern comforts instead. 'Cept, I had a new concept for 'em. I figured I'd win if I just killed off all the competition. :-)

But you'd have never known it cause you wouldn't have watched it. *sigh* I ended up not even watching the one I was trying to be on.

Well... dunno if it was really the real Survivor or some other knockoff, 'cuz honestly I couldn't handle any more of it to find out.

I don't blame ya. That is the only one of the reality shows I ever watched. It got very tame and silly after the first one. During the first one, when it had never been done before ya kinda just kept watching like a soap opera or something. Ya had to see what was gonna happen next.

Only reason I kept watching the second one was cause one of the contestants was this really cute guy from west Texas. :-)
