The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Morning!

Yeah it's a little late for that but I'm just now getting a free minute. Meetings, papers, phone calls, clearing out the email- catching up is just too much work. :(

But the good news is that I'm on tap for a trip to NM next week. Yes its a business trip- but those mountains will make it a vacation. *sigh*

If you've ever seen Blues Brothers, I believe Twiggy is the woman in the car who Dan Akroyd tries to pick up at the gas station right before the concert scene.

I love that movie! Mostly the music, of course. But I don't remember her in that part. I mostly remember the diner and the church part

> Dad just got some snowshoes. Guess he got tired of waiting. I've never tried that...may go try 'em out this weekend.

I'm just learning to snowshoe, too. In the summer I like to go rowing on the stream behind the house, but it's frozen over now so I have to figure out something else to do for outdoor activity, I figure snowshoeing is good exercise.

ROFL In that case, we'll need pictures. For educational purposes, of course.

Yeah, he wants to snowshoe for exercise. I live kinda sorta in town now, though...so not as easy as an option for me. In the summer I was walking every day, but with the subzero temps and roads narrowed by snow...not to mention the dark...I just haven't done it.

I just picked up a used treadmill for a good price and I'm doing that for now, but I can't wait to get back out and hike again. Unfortunately probably won't be good for hiking until mid to late May, but I can look forward to it anyway...

The church part was hilarious :) I also liked the car chases a lot. The part where the car goes off the bridge was filmed in front of a building where I used to work, so that part always cracks me up. On music side, I especially liked the scene with Ray Charles where they show all the 50s dance steps, as well as Cab Calloway's solo, and of course the scene in the country-western bar where they perform "Rawhide". "I'm Bob, and this here is my place." "And it's a nice place, Bob!" "We have both kinds of music: country *and* western!" :)

I can sympathize with the limitations on exercise options when living in town--I used to have that problem all the time. I've got more room now, thankfully. Right now because of the weather I mainly exercise indoors--I made up a cardio-kickboxing routine that's confined enough I can do it within the space of my bedroom. It's not the same as exercising outdoors, though--looking forward to spring!
