The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Morning everyone.
I start a new quarter today. Working twice as many hours... only getting half credit for contract hours for it cause not enough students signed up.
My program went on probation yesterday for not enough enrollment.
For the most part, I am just not worried about this stuff... but with them assigning me extra classes to teach, along with that video project, I just don't have enough time to do any of the jobs properly. And I'm afeared it's my students who are gonna end up gettin' the short end of the stick. I like that least of all. My job is teaching. If something has to fall short I prefer it to be the pet projects of the dean. But, it ain't lookin like that's how it'll be. I'm ashamed to say that too but they're callin' the shots on this right now.

I didn't plant bulbs again.
I'm trying not to think about spring.
And I keep forgetting to water my little ivy plant.

I got my mater and pepper seeds from Burpee yesterday. I'll get them started today or tomorrow.
They had these neat looking black heirloom corn seeds at Home Depot last weekend...

I can imagine that you do. I was really looking forward to this season because I want to get that herb bed in the middle of my front yard finished. It's what Grama gave me the money to do for my birthday last year but with her sick I never had time to finish it up. I am not having a lot of hope that I'll have time to do anything with it till May now. WAY too late for planting what I wanted. But, at least I could get some soil in there and put out some annuals.
I did some layering of Myranda's rosemary too. I let them winter over so I am anxious to see if those are rooted and ready to set somewhere else. Gotta wait and make sure freezes are past though!

Does the mature corn have black kernels, too?
To: Wneighbor; Overtaxed
I may be just doing annuals this year...sigh. So much happens in September and early October that gardening isn't something I think much about...and by much later than that, the ground is frozen. I've missed the deadline two years in a row now. You'd think I'd learn.
To: RosieCotton
They just had a picture of the ear on the envelope and yes, the kernels were black. :)
Of course, the squirrels got my dwarf blue corn last year. Wonder if they'll have that red sweet corn in the grocery stores here. Last year I saw it in the stores back home.

LOL!
My best friend and I saw a few shirts that we liked.
The one she wanted said, in increasingly shrinking letters, "I will not --- the boys, I will not --- the boys, I will not.." and so on.
The one I wanted said something about "I'm smiling because you exist solely for my amusement" or some such.
Needless to say, I did NOT get the shirt as it isn't socially acceptable for someone such as I to trundle into a building proclaiming on my shirt that everyone exists for my amusemnt.
*scratches head*
That, and the missus had a problem with the shirt.
