The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Lil'freeper...it sounds like your father had a beautiful death - I know there is such a thing. My mother's passing was very peaceful, too. It was still the hardest thing I've ever endured, though. Even knowing I'll see her again doesn't make it simple to let go. The hardest thing for me was that because she was on pretty serious pain meds, Mom didn't have the visiting time you experienced. I still feel like I have so much to say to her - and most importantly, to ask her.
I could second everything you said about hospice. For us, it was in-home care, and the nurses were just wonderful.
To: 2Jedismom
Thanks. Our prayers recently have been for the ICU and hospice nurses that they'll continue to have the courage and strength to do what they do so well. Nurses are special people.

Good morning, Ruthy!
To: Lil'freeper
HUGS! LF, you said so many things that reflect what happened just those few months ago with Grama. I am so glad this ended with you being able to be thankful. It would be so much more difficult to get through these things without that in our spirits. All my love to you and your family. I am thankful that God is carrying you through this right now.

Welcome back LF. Thank you for sharing. We've been missing you here, but also praying for and thinking about you.
I'm glad your father's passing was peaceful. We know from my f-i-l's death, hospice is a wonderful thing.
Never worry about talking too much here. Certainly doesn't stop the rest of us. ;-)
To: Lil'freeper
Beautiful LilFreeper! I am sorry that he is gone. - I am so glad for you that you got that chance to be with him.
Prayers for you now as you de-escalate from that whole experience, and are forced to return your attention to the trivial and unimportant stuff we do. I do think you will enjoy writing it all down if you find enough quiet time to sit now.
To: RosieCotton
I think writing his story is going to help me tremendously. He was such a rascal who was always up to his ears in mischief that it can't help but be uplifting.

No. Am I supposed to be?
We have to change our stupid passwords every month or so. Absent-minded hobbits like me can't keep track of 'em. Maybe I should write them down and keep 'em in my desk. :)

I can't change mine. It's funny though. I had a nickname when I worked at Wendy's in high school. My password is the same now.

hehehe...and then we have different logons with supposedly different passwords for regular systems, email, vendor accounts, travel expenses. And if I don't use these systems regularly sometimes I can't even remember the screen name.

I admit that it HAS happened where a student has called to ask me to reset a password on a particular system, and I've had to say "I'll call you back" 'cause I can't remember my own to login and change theirs...
To: RosieCotton
And then they want you to choose passwords that aren't easily guessed which means they aren't easily rememembered....what's a memory-impaired hobbit to do?

So very touching to read your synopsis of these events. Sad times I know. I'm glad you had a nice visit with your dad before he passed. Prayers are for you and your family today.

There are so many system passwords required today, some folks just use the same ones for many or all of them.

some folks just use the same ones for many or all of them....and that really ticks off the security guys! Then we have to remember the screen name...
