I probably should have a talk with Dad just to see what he thinks I should do. But I don't want to. Pride is a tough obstacle, ya know? This about the sibling thing from the other day or something else?

Hey Fedora nice to meet you.Likewise :) What tropical paradise are you going to?

This about the sibling thing from the other day or something else? Naw...about life in general, really. I'm struggling on my current salary and not sure what to do about it since I've already buckled down pretty tightly. Dad's probably the best one to give me advice and help me out...but I hate bugging him. Grrr.

It's never wrong.
Actually, Computerworld.com has a pretty good salary survey. I have used it before to justify salaries.
Mainly it depends on where you are. Regional differences are huge, but then again so are the differing costs of living.
But the salad days are over for IT salaries. We got away with pure murder in the late 90's because there just weren't enough people to fill the jobs. I was giving 10% and 20% raises AND bonuses back then just to keep good people.
Unfortunately, lots of idiots and whackjobs ended up making just obscene money. But that is being squeezed out now, and rightfully so. In the long run it will be healthy.

It was an anteater of some kind, but it had knuckles. Eeeewwwwww!!!It was weird! That doctor singing "Beverly Hillbillies" is kinda creepy, too.

She goin' to Trinidad, mon... where she from, mon... Ah--Trini from Trinidad--I get it! My brain is slow tonight. . . :) Seems like a beautiful place from what I've read. Wasn't Robinson Crusoe supposed to be set there?
To: Ramius
Heh, isn't that the truth... I'm not looking to get my doctorate because of the money, but man, the money there is still nice. Our segment isn't that bad, and my job is really worth more than what they pay me, but... it pays my bills, and they can't pay me any more right now anyway.
Maybe in May I can get a raise.

According to that survey, I'm makin' literally half the average.
Oh well. I think my plan as of this moment is to hold on until June and see if I get a decent raise. If I don't, I may be forced to find something else. I really hope that doesn't happen, 'cause I work with a great group, have a great boss, and just generally enjoy the heck out of that position.
