The Autumnal Recrudescence of the Amatory Urge

When the birds are cacaphonic in the trees and on the verge
Of the fields in mid-October when the cold is like a scourge.
It is not delight in winter that makes feathered voices surge,
But autumnal recrudescence of the amatory urge.

When the frost is on the punkin' and when leaf and branch diverge,
Birds with hormones reawakened sing a paean, not a dirge.
What's the reason for their warbling? Why on earth this late-year splurge?

That is high praise, coming from him. I respect him so much for calling that teacher on the carpet last year, over the social(ist) studies ideas she was presenting to your daughter's class. He was thoughtful and thorough in dealing with her, presenting such a solid series of arguments. No more or less than the situation required. I was so impressed. You two are a formidable team. ;)

aw gee thanks! i will tell him so! he is still doing his darnedest to get the textbook situation in the diocese squared away. there is a new series of textbooks that he found and ordered a set so he could see them and be ready to battle for him when he hears the inevitable complaints that they are TOO religious etc. The superintendent was predisposed against the textbooks used by the homeschoolers. i forget which publisher the new prospective series is from. this is his last year as president of the school board (term limits and all that : )) so he wants to make sure this is squared away during his tenure.

I can't wait to read tomorrow's headlines in the Tennessean. Somehow I think they'll bury this story. Or put it in a lockbox. ;)

I have yet to figure out why anyone could give a fig what they think or do. They strike me as a couple of losers, whose only claim to fame is that their parents are wealthy.
