In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....
amatory \ah*meh*tow*ree\, adjective:
amatorious; adjective
amatoriously; adverb
amatoriousness; noun
1. Pertaining to, producing, or expressing, sexual love; as, amatory potions. [Obs.]
2. Expressive of or exciting sexual love or romance
The Autumnal Recrudescence of the Amatory Urge
When the birds are cacaphonic in the trees and on the verge
Of the fields in mid-October when the cold is like a scourge.
It is not delight in winter that makes feathered voices surge,
But autumnal recrudescence of the amatory urge.
When the frost is on the punkin' and when leaf and branch diverge,
Birds with hormones reawakened sing a paean, not a dirge.
What's the reason for their warbling? Why on earth this late-year splurge?
The autumnal recrudescence of the amatory urge.--Susan Stiles, copyright December 1973

Oh wow, my family was the total opposite! Ever since I can remember, my parents discussed and debated all sorts of political, current events, news stuff at the dinner table. And I guess that because I was an only child and wanted in on the fun stuff, I felt that I had no choice but to learn what the heck they were talking about and started asking questions, watching the news, reading, etc.
Heck, I was probably one of the youngest Nixon diehards in 1972! My dad even took me into the voting booth and let me pull the lever to vote for him -- after I tried to vote for some third party candidate, because I liked their party symbol (I thought it was pretty). He was *so* crushed that everything he'd taught me had gone out the window when we got into the booth...

Sorry for the mix-up ladies. The email I received was not political in nature at all it was personal. It was from a 40+ man who is apparently the same arrogant SOB he was when he was a teenager. Based on a previous email I had received from him I made the mistake of assuming he had matured.
Another lesson in what happens when one ASSUMEs anything. sigh.

I took an almost sadistic pleasure in puncturing their leftist beliefs and ignorance. Like I said, the pay wasn't the greatest, but the entertainment value of observing leftists in their natural habitat more than made up for that. :)
I just about drove one over the bend when she noticed that I had a Reagan screensaver on my 21" monitor. And another scrunched her nose and asked why I had a George (H.w.) Bush screensaver. (It wasn't -- the drug-addled slut didn't recognize Reagan).
But they were otherwise good kids and were genuinely excited and happy for me when I got to meet Bush. :)

Yeah, I kind of snuck up on him and literally made him jump a little when he turned around and I was literally right there in his face. But he recovered quickly and was *so* nice to me, starstruck fan that I was. :) Looked right into my eyes when we talked, as if I were the most important person in the room for that minute or two.
Anyway, I've got to get dressed and head off to Pilates class in a little bit! :)

HAH!! Beauty!!
Well, my taste buds are now in a tizzy for Oreos, so I'm off to support capitalism by voluntarily giving the store some of my "hard-earned" money, see you later.

Several weeks ago while talking with a HS classmate of mine I made reference to how much Jax enjoyed Lynne Cheney's "America" (my friend's son is a week younger than Jax) and her reply was that NOTHING written by someone with the name Cheney would ever be read to or by her son.
I was tempted to buy a copy and send it to her for Christmas, but refrained.
I will never be able to change her politics, I couldn't do it in HS, I don't see how I can do it 25 years later.

We always discussed it all - there was just never any overt discussion of political party registration. I was a teenager before I ever listened to music on anything but a turntable. The radios in our house were always tuned to an all news station and we watched the evening news religiously every evening.
What happened to my brother - I'll never know. He hated having to watch the news with dinner and I never saw him read the newspaper. I don't recall ever in my life having a discussion regarding politics or current events with him.

When a relative goes off about dem/liberal issues and their "feelings", I love surprising them by being up on politics and asking them about issues and incidents they never heard of, then I just smile and say, oh, sorry didn't mean to bore you with facts... then I sometimes add if they did read as much as I did, they would know they are not really democrats....tsk, tsk....
ie my mil was going off about haliburton so I asked her if a guy should make big money off unions in a florida land deal and she says NO! So I mention that it is terrymcawful, the clintoon's boy, who did it.....how else does a middle class kid from syracuse make big bucks in a land deal-why just hang out with the conniving clintoons. I point out that poor cheney and bush were born with money, the oafish clintoon and mcawful climbed over us working smucks and sold out to get it....she was MAD! Wanted to know why she never heard of it, told her she needed to read the internet NOT listen to the filtered, left news media. Facts are facts.

i also go off on the Halliburton issue. xsbro worked for them for 20 yrs, up until a year or so ago. The people that go off on H'burton and the Cheney connection, #1, never heard of the company before it was linked with Cheney and #2, have no earthly notion what the company DOES, its preeminent standing in that particular field. They strictly swallow the Leftist BS that the company is getting rich off of the Cheney connection. ILLINFORMED and STUPID.

the real, down to earth people, who are not well informed, have no idea how left-tilted the mainstream media is. they honestly believe they are just objective reporters and newsreaders without an agenda.

My SIL, who lives in San Fransico, started making some comments over Thanksgiving weekend about Arnold and the rest of the California situation......hubby was extremely proud of me for just RME behind her back and not getting into any of it.
I don't have enough contact with my family to even know much about their political leanings.

The only sanity that he exhibited was his outrage over the Elian case. My dad was here with us, bc it was Easter. What an Easter present that was, from that demon Clinton.

have fun.
We're supposed to go see the Christmas parade and pageant in Onancock (20 miles from here) tonight, but with the way Jax is misbehaving I seriously doubt we are going to be going anywhere.
Which is fine by me because it is bloody cold out right now and I'm not looking forward to standing around in the cold tonight.
I'm cold enough as it is right now and I haven't been outside today. We totaly goofed and did not realize how low the oil tank was (remember, we've never had oil heat before) and can't get a delivery until Monday. And we are also out of wood for the wood stove. I'm not a happy camper.
