*sigh* Nope, didn't get it. I refuse to pay the extra hundred bucks for installation.
The thing that ticks me off is that I can't just order the modem like everyone else. They are saying that since I have fiber optic lines, I MUST have professional installation, which I don't buy for a second.
The sad part is that Comcast doesn't offer cable internet in my neighborhood yet, so I'll have to suffer longer with dial-up until they do. I am not going to succumb to BellSouth's shakedown. I'm furious!

Sorry Ruthy. But, I'm here with ya on dial-up. We can just wallow in the slow lane together a while longer!
How was your week? Get caught up any?

Do you have fiber running all the way to the house? You have a fiber connector in the wall socket?
That would strike me as *extremely* unusual. It pretty much cannot really be that way. But if it *were* true... there's a potential for wicked fast speed of biblical proportions. Fast enough to make parting the red sea look like only a minor miracle.

Actually, Ruthy... the hundred bucks is mainly for the cost of the router (modem) that they will install. They probably want one of their techs to do it because there are too many setup items that too many customers get wrong and foul it.
If you can scrape up the C-note, it would absolutely be worth it in the long run.
