Hair, have you seriesly never been to the North Shore? If not, I second Ecurb's suggestion about going...it is gorgeous. Steve grew up right north of Two Harbors, in Silver Bay. We like to drive up the scenic route and get the smoked fish (as I know I've stated before). Be sure and go to Palisade Head in the late summer and pick the wild blueberries. I have pictures of Joshua when he was a baby sitting up there in a patch of blueberries just stuffing his face!

If you're really adventurous, you could canoe into the Boundary Waters...very primitive camping. We did that too and it is one of my fondest memories. I got up very early one morning and was fishing when a moose went swimming by so close I was afraid it would snag my line! It didn't, and shortly thereafter, I caught breakfast! A northern pike. Steve hadn't even gotten up yet and I had the fire going and had caught breakfast! Had to wake him up then because I don't like to clean fish. I don't mind skinning catfish, but I can't stand getting nasty scales on my hands.

But I digress. I don't dream of going on cruises or fancy vacations...I just want to hang out in the Boundary Waters with Steve again. It was a great time in our lives.

I second that! Those are the kind of things I like too. Mine tend toward more southerly places though... like Big Bend and places in New Mexico or Arizona.

Never made it to the Boundary Waters myself, although my roommate and I had talked of it. Spent a couple weekends near Grand Marais, though, where I took some of the best pictures of my life.

Just mind you are alert and don't hit one of them dotted lines on the boundary area at speed, even in a canoe.

Ok Texas hobbit holers, and anyone interested.

I just got tickets to the Houston Stock Show and Rodeo to see Dwight Yoakum/Buck Owens/Marty Stuart with Connie Smith on March the 12. and then Randy Travis on Mar. 13. If any Texas people would like to moot with me there, I can get a few more tickets, but I have to know today or tomorrow. These are from my friend Cindy, who gets them every year through her company. They are always front row and great seats. If you've never been to a Houston Rodeo, it is a lot of fun.
