I just got this email from Steve:

I would like to ask for your help on something. Before leaving the states we bought a bunch of two way radios, because we knew that our communication here would be very limited. We bought Audiovox radios and have had many problems with them. Among them are chargers going bad, clips breaking, poor range, very short battery life. We depend on these radios everyday. I recently wrote to the corporation in New York detailing the problems and our situation here in Iraq. I asked if there was anything they could do. I recieved no response from them. What I was wondering is if you could post this information on free republic, along with their address and phone number. You can get the information off of their website. I would have it for you, but it seems that the site is down today. I would like to ask everyone to call, e-mail or write the company and express your opinion as to their lack of concern for us. Maybe if we give them enough bad publicity they will start to care about us. All we wanted was a response, even if it was that they could not do anything for us. If you could help out that would be great. We just want to get their attention. Thanks again for everything.

Steve

P.S. We have since had additional radios sent from home and are getting by. They are Motorolas and work great. We just want them to step up and accept some kind of responsibitily. Thanks Again.

It looks like we're on a mission from God, folks. I think we're going to have to buy some more Motorola radios (Probably FRS or GMRS) for Steve and the guys. Meanwhile, I'll research Audiovox, and see if we can light a fire under them. Worse come to worse, I'll have Steve send me some smashed/shot-up Audiovox products, and mail them to the board of directors and/or the media.

I can't get to the Audiovox website at the moment either. Gotta run to the doctor's office for a stoopid cholesteral check. Will keep this up. If you get a mailing address freepmail it to me.

Sounds like those Audiovox radios are just junk, .300, so probably not much they can do...shouldn't have put a product like that on the market in the first place. Guess there' a lot of unscrupulous businessmen out there, though.
