The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Well, I would sit tight then for a bit 2J.... wait until someone comes around!

Did you see any blue smoke? - if not, you'll be OK.

Yes, i pinged Rose, she was the one of the first I thought of.

It does the same thing with whatever option I choose. Says I can choose "Safe Mode", "Safemode with Networking", or "Safe Mode with Command Prompt". When I select these and hit enter, it scrolls down a bunch of stuff...then it looks like it's trying to start...it puts the windows xp logo on there, then briefly the hp flashes on there, then the black screen with the options again. Sigh.

The other two options are "Last known good configuration" and "Start Windows Normally"

300 winmag sent me a program to back the entire thing up...and I didn't do it...because I couldn't bring myself to buy the disks.

"I promise God, if You just let this work out ok...I'll back the computer up tonight!"

I didn't do it!
And it wasn't my tagline that got it either!

Both last known good and start normally do the same thing?

Last known good is probably NO good at this point, though...

They all do the exact same thing. Act like they're gonna work...but then don't.

Steve's gonna be home any minute. He's taking the boys to awanas. I'll be able to work on this this in just a few minutes. I'm logging off for now. Will be back in just a few minutes.

ARGH!!! Just finally got the flight stuff figured out...the GOOD news is that we ARE all on the same flight in seats that are all together, but the BAD news is that we're leaving considerably earlier than I thought and are getting in at 2:14! We can certainly wait for a later ride, but I shoulda figured that out before telling everyone the wrong thing!

Also means poor Dad, who volunteered to take us TO the airport, has to get up at about three in the morning. I feel terrible...

That's the same time WN and I get in. Perhaps we can ride together - if ksen has room.

I'm figuring we'll probably wait for the later ride - not sure if there'll be space in the first. We'll see.

Bill's bringing the Ghibli box set - does that mean anything to you?

Lots of anime movies, in any case.
