I remember the days of JP4 and thankfully they are gone. We use JP8 now for everything from aircraft to trucks to generators. IT is much less flammable and much cleaner.
I talked to some guys that were on their way home. They had seven trucks that were hit by RPG fire and none of them ignited. THey said it put a big hole in the tanker, but no fire. I was glad to hear that.

Had a few minutes to spare and wanted to say hello to everyone. We just got back off the road, and all is well. Almost dinner time now (yuck) and then shortly after that bed. I have been asked by many of you if there was anything specific that we would like sent. After speaking to the masses today, there is a consensus that we are bored when we are not on the road. Several suggested that they would like to see some magazines from the homefront. We dont get much news here (just brief glimpses at meal time) so I figure Newsweek, Time, or even your local paper would suffice. Dont go out of your way, just send us whatever you like to read after you're done with it. (We're not picky) We appreciate you all, and all you have done for us.

Steve, I will gladly send magazines, newspapers your way. What is your address?

..and I have been asked..where does the name smaagee come from?

..and also what is your rank, and what service are you in if you don't mind telling?

Good morning! I'll trade mornings, if you want...I have several weeks worth of trash to lug to the dump. At least it's a lot easier with the van...a LOT.

With very few exceptions, I'm really loving having a van.

Hehehe! Van-Sama comes through!

On the bright side, the scale was down... I try to step on it only once a week, and it paid off this time. I might just be where I want to be at graduatation after all.

The concert...she has an incredible voice and her own style on the guitar. I liked some of her material more than others, though...liked the upbeat country blues stuff more than the slam-the-guitar-and-zip-that-slide-and-yell stuff. Though...I liked some of that stuff toward the end. From someone who likes my blues pretty white...it took me awhile to settle in, if you know what I mean. ;-)

I wouldn't mind owning some of her more country blues and gospel oriented stuff.

Van-Sama is my hero...

Except for the rear shock problem, of course. Sigh. At least it's something I can put off!

Geesh...how many times did I say "stuff" in that post? Any decent English teacher would slap me for that...

OK, I'm going to go put on shoes, make an omelet for breakfast, and then start hauling trash up from the basement. Ugh. Hope I don't have any bags break. I HATE it when that happens.

How was your trip?

Other than flying over there just to get iced in for three days it was okay. Never did meet the Real Estate Laday and she's going to have to fax stuff for me to sign.

You don't have trash pickup?

Wow, it's still cold. I can't remember it being this cold for so long in ages. Great, I've got to do errands, the roads are... less than perfect, and I have to go to the town I don't like because a brother has to go to Borders. Wonderful.

I'll be back later.

You could even get Crystal to type it, and scribble my name on it.

Notice how I Italiced your quote? Didn't know I knew how to do that did you?

I can type but as you correctly guessed, my printer is still out of ink. I just can't bring myself to spend $29 per cartridge for ink, no more than I would use the printer.

I thought I would get ahead of the game by buying a cheap printer from Wal-Mart ($34) until I read the small print on it. It seems the cheapie printers come with "starter" cartridges.

I FReep mailed your military address to Gulf War vet 1 and will give it to anyone else who wants it. Love Always, The Dad

Trash pickup...uh...no. Not here.

Hey, at least you get to go to Borders! That's not a bad thing!

OK, I'm still working on getting out the door.

Mr. Lou Rawls, one of the more unforgettable voices currently available to the world

LOL! You know folks get all excited about Barry White's voice, but in my opinion, NO ONE can top Lou Rawls for sheer sexy!!

Have you ever used a George Foreman grill?

Oh yes! I bought the small individual-sized one back when I was living by myself. It works wonderfully... Cooks the meat quickly, sears it nicely to seal in the juices, but the excess just drips away. I've cooked chicken, steaks, pork chops, and even mondo-thick salmon steaks on it. I'd recommend it!

I'm glad you liked her. I haven't heard her in many years because we haven't listened to 'folk radio' much at all since we moved here. I keep forgetting when it's on! I know "A Celtic Sojourn" comes on Saturdays at noon, but I can't ever remember if the folk show is on Sat. night or Sun. We were always busy with the kids doing sutff, and never paid attention!

When I was in college, we had incredible concerts! I always enjoyed going to them for free or cheap!

I knew JP8 was on the horizon when I separated in 91. I'm glad to hear you've gotton some armor in the cab, and the RPG's aren't causing huge issues. Stay safe man, and send updates when you can.
