Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Oh, Jen, hon, make time and go to a Star Trek or science fiction convention!
You don't have to go in costume! Just show up and take it alllll in!
I was ... hmmm ... 18 or 19? ... when I went to my first convention. Actually, I was a member of the San Antonio Star Trek Fan Club, and I worked the convention.
You experience your love of science fiction in a whole new and intellectual way at a con, hanging out with the like-minded and the completely weird ... often in the same person.
You should check out Confluence 2004, to be held July 23-25, 2004, in Pittsburgh. They're going to have a writing contest! Go check it out! http://trfn.clpgh.org
There'll be a lot of the younger set there, because a writing group for teenagers is having their convention at the same time and place!
It sounds like it was made for you!

Hey, Welcome to Hobbit Hole!
That is very sad to hear about your unit and how the active unit is treating you. You all need the support you can get! I know I am preaching to the choir here, but good grief...
Our prayers and thoughts are with you all!!

Welcome to the Hobbit Hole; drop in whenever you can, we're glad to see you. Have a pint or a mug of tea and set a spell.
To: Rose in RoseBear
Maybe I will, Rose. Thanks for the suggestion.
Ugh, there's snow. How am I gonna get out of here?

Good morning! Didn't get to post from home this morning 'cause I was still busy catching up. VERY chatsy Hobbit Hole Dwellers last night.
2J - I'll be praying for Steve. It's probably no biggie, but I can see why you would worry!
Where's Corin? And ksen?
Tonight I'm going to see Rory Block in concert. I'm not QUITE sure what to expect (she plays acoustic blues, Delta style), but I'm looking forward to it. And it was free, after all! I'm really likin' that work benefit.

Ok, First off, someone tell me how to post a reply to multiple people without having to type everyones screen name. Is there an address book or something? I only get a half hour at a time on the internet, but I spend most of it chatting with my wife Crystal. We went to the Palace in Mosul today, and got a group photo (most of us anyway). As soon as I can get it on disk, I will either post it, or e-mail it to Rick to post. There are some other good pictures too. Thanks for all the offers. We always appreciate goodies, and if we get too much we toss it to the Iraqi children in the streets as we go by. It is quite stirring to see them. They run to the streets to wave at us, and see if we have anything for them. We are not allowed to throw food to them, but we often do anyway. It is so sad to see how they live. Most of their houses are falling down. It is cold here, and it is very common to see children as young as 6 or 7 working in the fields all day, instead of going to school, or playing with their friends. I guess what I'm trying to say is feel free to send whatever you want. It brightens our day, and if we throw candy to the children, it brightens their day as well as ours. It really is a noble effort that we are here for. These people have suffered for many years, and we, along with your help bring a ray of hope into the childrens life. Thanks again for everything. God bless you all.

I love chips and salsa. THe PX here is always out of one or the other. You seem to know my taste well. When I was in the hospital starving the doughnuts arrived with perfect timing. Thanks for everything.

Continuing prayers - and that goes for the rest of your group, too.
