Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I'm working in between posts. Catching up with mail and that sort of thing. Tomorrow is an off day at the court, so I'm going into the office. Trial resumes Monday and will likely take up the whole week thereafter.
The problem at the office is a PITA (pain in the @$$) board member that has had it in for me since I took over some years ago. He's a top level @hole among world class @holes. He hates me and I hate him, but except for that we get along just fine.
This is the guy that, in mid-november convinced the CEO that we should begin our Active-Directory upgrade and "take advantage" of the Christmas break "downtime" to get it done. No problem, right.... ????
Nevermind than an AD upgrade is a six to eight month project for a small and *simple* network.
Nevermind that there is no particular business reason to do any of this other than for *this* @hole to be able to tell his clients that we are running AD, which none of them know from Adam anyway... and don't really care about.
Nevermind that the ONLY reason we HAVE to do this RIGHT NOW is because this ONE particular @hole has exceeded the 2 GIGABYTE limit on an outlook mailbox and wants to be able to continue to use email as an acceptable way to distribute multi-hundred-Mb movies to everybody he knows.
Nevermind all that. This is worth abandoning all other IT projects for the next six months and bending our will to one insufferable @hole. It's all about him. Of course.
God knows, the only way this company will ever succeed is when this insufferable @hole is gone. Since he is one of the major shareholders, and therefore is on the BOD, nobody has anywhere near the balls to tell him where to stuff it, even though he really, really needs it.
Once I finally get fired... my exit interview is going to be a friggin' blast...

I don't know about you.......... but Steve with 22 guys... I think they need a box of chips and salsa tomorrow. Chips and salsa are your trademark, WN. Got any hot sauce or Arby's horseradish packets, to add?
Check your freepmail for Steve's address.

Welcome again - glad you've got the thread figured out! Check in here any time with us! We'll serve up some pints and conversation!
We will be praying for you! - And sending whatever else we can. I am concerned by your words. You have friends here praying for wisdom and strength for everyone over there.... your unit and those in command.

Well, again, I wish I could fix things. You know (I hope) that I would do something to help if it were help I could provide. Sorry your work is such hell right now.
You have my elf bow.
or my nails for scratching.
and prayers.
I hope I don't distract you from work too much with inane posts. But, I am here for the occasional distraction when work gets to be too much for ya. :-)
freepmail me the guy's address and I'll see if I can't take him out for ya. :-) would if I could.

That's the same address that I've used for Steve. He had mentioned that some of my packages got mis-directed at one time and came kinda late. Maybe we can hope that the knives will show up late like that too. Prayer on that.
I'm going to Sam's tomorrow. Will just get chips and salsa for them and the rest of the guys on my list. It's been too long since I mailed and that's a good thing to get to them. Lots of love in salsa you know.

I think WM is having a lot more financial outlay with those radios. And I've got something coming in I think.
Goodnight. Pleasant dreams. :-)

people get 'em all the timeI had one removed from over my right eye back in 1993 or 94, I can't remember now. Haven't had a problem since.
To: HairOfTheDog
Me-n-ecurbh ar gonna watch Misery.... At our kids' school once, we had a theatre troupe doing a show on Harriet Tubman. I was chatting with the actors before the show began. The young woman who was playing Harriet told me I reminded her of Kathy Bates. I told her I hoped it was Kathy Bates in Fried Green Tomatos and not Misery!!
To: HairOfTheDog
should we all just sit back and watch ya?I hope you didn't considering how late it is right now!!
To: HairOfTheDog
Yeah, I funkled again.
Morning everybody when y'all get up in a couple of hours!! Good luck on your interview, Hair. I'll be praying for ya!

The last few miles or so from Calumet to Copper Harbor up the middle of the Keeweenaw Peninsula --- the "thumb" sticking up from the UP like a shark's dorsal --- is just the most gorgeous stretch of road in fall ... the trees meet over the road, and you drive into a tunnel of color ...

Long, long before I met DaBear, long before I actually knew where Whitefish Bay was, the imagery in that song gripped me. The lines about the wind in the lines making a "tattle-tale sound" and Superior singing in her "ice-water mansion"
meant something to me. Me, a girl from 1500 miles and several worlds away.
Free will (actually, a girl who lived quite a bit in her own head) or predestination?
"Does anyone know where the love of God goes/When the waves turn the minutes to hours?" still moves me closer to tears.
