Ok, my mom is trying to get a camper spot...we'll know tomorrow. If she can't, that might not be the end of it, but I'll have to see what she works out.
She thinks even my brother and his kids might want to come to the livestock show...but it would just be me and Mom at the concert.
This is exciting!

I am getting really excited already and it's still a month and a half away! The cool thing is that it comes right at the start of my spring break so I don't have to worry about driving all the way down there and turning right around and driving all the way back to WF!!! I can just bring PQ home and hang out with all the friends there for the rest of the week! :-)

Zelazny's one of my favorites. I read a couple of his short stories a while back and mean to read more when I have time. Too bad he's dead...

The hot new computing thing is multi-threading. Perhaps we should consider something similar.

I could talk about my really boring writing class... problem is the other students think they can write and they really, really can't. I'm no Tolkien but ugh...

The lady said they would be bringing it up to see if they were going to cancel the contract. They may have but still have some coming in for a while, I guess.
I dunno...I am just going to get them while I can! But only the day-olds...I've got enough fresh ones!

It's been a busy day here. I'm beginning to feel like the Hobbit Hole supply depot.
First, a dozen more knives arrived, and have been taken out for engraving. Second, the Motorola radios are here! Here's a shot of them after I cut them loose from that plastic anti-theft packaging. I put batteries in long enough to make sure they powered up properly. I also used the electric engraver to mark a smal "HH" below the PTT button, to tell ours apart.
The radios will be mailed tomorrow. While at the post office, I'll try to collect on the 24 knives I sent to Steve's platoon on Dec 3, and never heard from again. It was sent insured, and I have all the paperwork, but the post office is notorious for not paying claims. We have $400 tied up in this, folks, so your prayers are really appreciated.
Third, I got a thank-you card from a GI in Iraq for one of our knives. I got his name from a friend, and sent him a knife. I'm sure he'll appreciate other tokens of appreciation as we put together care packages.
Finally, once the sample EMT shears arrive, we'll have to decide if we want to "branch out" into this line of merchandise.
Like I said, it's going to be a bit busy around the Hobbit Hole supply depot for a while.

Good evening! I just got in a few minutes ago. Steve is at school.
Since I have been home, this is what I have done:
I unplugged the orange cord that runs out to the coop from the timer and put it in a regular outlet, so the light will stay on all night.
I went out to the chicken coop and changed the lightbulb to a red heatlamp bulb. (Temps are expected to drop into the single digits tonight).
I then cleaned out the sleeping box that gets poop in it and refilled it with pine shavings.
I refilled the food hopper.
I replaced the waterer with one filled with warm water.
I sprinkled scratch around on the inside of the coop and shut the chickens inside for the night.
The other day, when it snowed, our rubber trim on the bottom of the garage door stuck in the ice and pulled off in the middle, so it sagged and we couldn't get our cars in or out of the garage without worrying it would catch and pull off or at worse, screw up the garage door. So, after dealing with the chickens in the 22 degree weather, I went out and duct taped that piece of rubber back on to the bottom of the garage door.
Thank goodness I have plenty of duct tape.
Still, it's times like these I miss Steve the most!
