The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Well, I am slightly worried about one of my girls...

Puffy has a really dirty backside, like she has the runs or something and has laid very few eggs lately. Otherwise, she seems fit...eating and drinking well...

I'm going to go out and observe her today...see what I can find out.

I wonder why it just wasn't left alone as bird/crab food.

They left the chunks! It would have taken many smelly months for it to be eaten down in one piece.

As an aside..... they did the same thing to a horse here that died in the middle of a trail, high enough up that a vehicle couldn't get even close. I always tell Bay to be careful up there!

That doesn't explain the warm oatmeal I cook them now and then...

yer kiddin'... right?... our coop is open to the East... the birds did just fine last nite... the roost huddled together up on their perches... they were ravenous this mornin'... they're on double rations due to the cold and the snow...

Good morning everyone!

As you have probably guessed, this week has been absolutely insane with work. I don't have time to catch up on the thread right now, but I did see the pictures! *snif*

I miss you guys terribly! I wish we could all be back at Entmoot right now.

*sigh*

Better get back to work.

Here's some nibbles to stave off the hunger pangs!

Oh and before I forget....

HAPPY 23rd Birthday Elijah Wood!

Thanks Ruthy, for making an appearance, and breakfast at the same time!

Elijah is 23? He used to be so young!

Oh no! I hope it's nothing serious!

Maybe it's something she ate?

LOL No, I'm not kidding! But only on very cold mornings...in the teens or single digits.

Givin' 'em the whole grain scratch in the evening before bed apparently raises their metabolism and helps them stay warm all night. They keep it in their crops and work on it.

Ew, I thought he was younger than that. In which case it looks like he'd better start taking testosterone supplements.

I dunno. I'm kinda glad she's stopped laying though...maybe chicken bodies know when it's not a tidy time to lay eggs?

He looks, like, sixteen! At least he shaved off that stupid hair on his chin. If you can't grow a beard, don't try.

Heh...here's hoping he learns to dress better with age! *grin*

Although personally, I couldn't care less what he has on, as long as it's removable!
