The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I see what you mean. I'm standing at the end of our driveway in the pic of the house.

Y'all have a lot more snow than we do too.

Oh it's just GORGEOUS! So picturesque with that American flag hanging there!

I just love your house...I'd love one just like it out on about 5 acres of land!

It's supposed to start snowing here soon...I've been watching the temperature drop all morning.

Hopefully it will snow a buttload and I won't have to take Matthew to the dang-burnit Cub Scouts! LOL

We have discovered we live in a freakish little microclimate that get buckets more precipitation than is ever forecast. I think it's a mini version of the "lake effect" due to the Susquahana river being just down the hill. We got a little over 6" last nite with a few more due... then it turns to freezing rain. *pout*

Heh... my little brother's school was cancelled, and it's just as well, he's feeling sick. My sister's college class wasn't cancelled, but she missed anyway, Mom wouldn't let her take the car... it's her birthday and Mom doesn't want her spending it dead...

I always wanted a long drive with my house toward the back of my little bit of land, with fruit trees lining it! Nothing special...just some sand plums...so I could make a bunch of jelly.

I have so clear in my mind just exactly what I want. I picked up an old gardening book that I got when Steve and I first got married 12 years ago and there, sketched in the inside cover of the book was a house, much like Corin's and the layout of my little bit of land.

I thought so... she's 17 and this is her first winter for driving, admitedly she's pretty darn safe in our SUV, it's a tank, but still.

Sounds like those Audiovox radios are just junk, .300, so probably not much they can do...shouldn't have put a product like that on the market in the first place. Guess there' a lot of unscrupulous businessmen out there, though.

Are you guys open to opportunity if it presents itself? Just curious, cuz our place was an unexpected find. We were bored one day and were looking at model homes- cheap entertainment- daydreaming about the pie-in-the-sky house we wanted when we heard about this property. We drove out, fell in love at first sight with it and the price was right (It's about 100K cheaper to build in NASCAR county than the county we were living in). We were completely unprepared in every respect but we vowed to do whatever it took to buy this spot. So we did. And we have to pinch ourselves everyday.

Morning everyone!

Busy, busy, busy! No time to set out breakfast today, sad to say! Maybe later though!

I just had to at least pop in here and say to all of you! I'm missing you guys terribly, but haven't had a chance to post!

Be back later! (I hope!)

Yes, we are...we keep our eyes open all the time!

Funny, though...I just feel like it will happen someday, in the Lord's own timing. Anytime I have a vision of something so clearly, it may take years to come to pass, but it does eventually. Like this house. You know, I sketched out this house we're in now YEARS before we even found it. Except it had 2 baths and I kept saying in my prayers "...but I don't really have to have that second bath Lord...I can make due with one."

I ended up with the exact house I drew, except it only had one bath! LOL Oh me of little faith!

I really do feel like I'm in some kind of waiting mode right now...and I'm pretty comfortable, so it's ok. But someday, I just know. It'll happen.

I really would like to have just a few more chickens. I love them so much and would take really good care of them. And now I have people asking me if I'll sell the eggs. My librarian friend that I work at the church with, for one...she said her husband, who has lymphoma, just loves them. We are going to make a point to just give her some now and then...a half dozen at a time...Matthew delivers them to her, since he works so hard caring for the chickens.

I don't so much want to sell them, as just have something to share with others. I so rarely have anything "extra" to pass around to people...so when I get extra, I like to spread it out! Kinda like "You know, I just think the world of you, have some eggs."

LOL

Morning! And I'll second that... so long as it's understood that "manners" aren't feminine. ;)

Agreed!

My parents, for years, knew exactly what they wanted for their 'final' home. A log cabin, with four bedrooms and multiple baths and a 'great room'. They figured they'd have to build. Then, nine years ago, a log house near ours went up for sale and they decided to look at it, to get ideas... well, they looked at it and said, that's exactly what we want. So we moved. Actually we have a cathedral ceiling that we love that they'd never have put in because it's wasteful of space, but it's so nice.

Maybe your house is waiting for you even now!
