The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Hey!
Stopping by to say "Hi", answer e-mails, "pings", and to catch up a bit. Been busy with the family. Terry came in early from Chicago, I guess, late Wednesday, so we had family time since he has been gone a good bit. Went with my oldest daughter and grandson to the mall yesterday and had a nice time. We had fun looking at LOTR action figures, just looking around 'cause we are kinda broke, and had a cheap lunch.

Terry is in the office today doing paper work and getting his "orders" for the upcoming week.
2J "Walking with Frodo"...a daily devotional by Sara Arthur!

I have heard of this book and have wanted to get it. Is it good? I have been reading two fairly new releases that are based on the Christian veiws of "LOTR";
"The Gospel According To Tolkien" by Ralph C. Wood, he is the Professor Of Theology and Literature at Baylor University.
"J.J.R. Tolkien's masterpiece is a deeply Chiristian work because it does not blink back the horrors of our terrible times but confronts them with startling honesty. Readers keep turing to this work because here they are immersed in significance and meaning-perceiving the Hope that can be found amidst despair; the Charity that overcomes vengenance; and the Faith that springs from the strange power of weakness."

The book is very good. Highly recommend it.

Also reading "Following Gandalf" by Matthew Dickerson who teaches at Middlebury College in Vermont. This is also from a Christian view. "Dickerson uses these characters to explore the wisdom of Middle-earth where moral and spiritual victory, rather than military success, is the real story."
He makes some very good points in this book. I have enjoyed it.

Let me know if "Walking With Frodo" is good. I may get it. I need a new devotional. I have about worn out "Finding God In The Lord Of Rings".

Hair and ecurbh, thanks for the updates. Have enjoyed all the pictures. Hope you guys are well.

Wn, thanks for the "heads up" on prayer requests. Will get to prayin'. (Some times when I get busy and then show up to pray I feel like God might say "Who dat?")

You guys are the ones who went away... though I've been doing backups, so I guess I'm not innocent.

Heh...didn't we once have a discussion about how Star Trek and LOTR were similar in some ways? Or what Star Trek characters could play certain LOTR characters?

Ummm...might have. I don't really remember the particulars. It'd be fun fitting all the ST cliches into LOTR.

Which Star Trek? Mr Spock would make a good Elf.

Any Star Trek.

Dwarves...dwarves are somewhere between Klingons and Ferengi.
