The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Yep, I own it.

The kewl thing about it is that now a lot of the artists I'VE liked for years are now known by a LOT more people. Norman Blake, Gillian Welch, Ralph Stanley - even Allison Krauss wasn't known by nearly as many people before OBWAT.

I think that's a very good thing!

I liked the soundtrack better than the movie.

It's one of my favorite movies, honestly. Too many good lines to repeat them all, and lots of wonderful old timey music.

Why, you might say, it's steeped in old timey!

With the cold this weekend, it may be a nice time to stay in and watch some of these movies I haven't seen in awhile. It's been a good six months or so since I last watched that one...

Yes, but would you go so far as to say "saturated" in old timey?

How about "teeming"? lol

Bob Keeshan, "Captain Kangaroo", has died.

Definitely "steeped"! (If you see the movie, you'll recognize the line. ;)

Rose and I were home on a Friday night a few weeks ago, and there was nothing good on TV, so I popped that DVD in and we watched it. Had been a long time since our previous viewing...

Sad! I play that theme song of his from the 50's in my head and I can still taste my grandmother's poached eggs on toast. OK, so they weren't much different than anyone else's poached eggs on toast, but you know what I mean.

Another reminder of how far away the past is getting.

I thought Captain Kangaroo died three years ago.

Is that not what you expected me to say?

Here at work... I decided to take the laptop into the other place with me, though it was a pain to lug around. The temperature was all of THREE when I got to work this morning. It's currently 10!

Let me also recommend another Coen Brothers movie, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Just plain funny, imho.

Seen that one. Love the music in it.
