Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I consider myself to be a pretty brave person...but I can't stand spiders!
I'll never forget Roy getting ahold of a garden spider that was on a tarp over her coop...it was in her mouth and had it's legs wrapped around her beak!
I still get the willies thinking about it!

I'm sure it was tasty.

Nope, Master Sea-man, true story.
The Marfa Lights have been known for over 100 years; in fact, there are also the Marfa Sounds, tuning fork-like noises that seem to accompany the lights. A whole cottage industry has grown up around these lights ... there's a festival every Labor Day weekend.

Suuuuure it is...
Maybe there's really good mushrooms that grow there? :-)
To: Ramius
She seemed to enjoy it! Yikes.
They eat the black widows too...we didn't have a one this past summer. Earned every penny we've spent on them just because of that, even if they never laid an egg!
But today, we got an egg a piece, baby!

Are you back with us for good, now?? Seems like everything has been turned upside down since moot...Uh, no, not like normal. I should be getting ready for bed now but I always have to unwind a bit first.
This week I have to go to Dallas every day for some training. It's 135 miles one way. Then, I have to drive back and teach my night classes. I have been leaving at 5:15 the last 2 mornings. I have let the students out about an hour early the last 2 nights though. I'm just too tired to function well in class.

Nah... spiders aren't scary. Oh wait... yes they are. Very scary. They're among the things that *really* creep me out.*laughing at you*

Did you find the snake I sent home with you in your bag? Gosh... I hope so... poor little guy must be hungry by now.
To: Ramius
Uh oh... no immediate reply. I have a bad feeling about this.
To: Ramius
Ya know, that actually happened to my sister once. Brought home a snake in her sleeping bag once.

I just did one of the most difficult things for me to do...I changed the intake filter.
It's up in the ceiling in our hall. I have to stand on a bar stool, and open the thing, get the dirty screen out, position the new screen and then shut the thing up.
If I tilt my head back to look up even just a tad, I'm likely to tumble right off the chair! I have no equilibrium when I look up...liable to fall right over! LOL

Relax. No immediate reply because I got a phone call from my cousin Ben. :-) He is safely driving his truck across Arkansas this time. On his way to New York. His brother (not my cousin) drives a truck also and is headed up your way right now though. Only to Spokane though. Just the same general direction as you are.

Brought home a snake in her sleeping bag once. Just once. That's the sort of thing that only happens once. Thereafter, more careful checking is always part of the packing plan.
A good friend of mine was with the Marines on a training exercise in Panama some years ago. Seems that there are "banana spiders" there. Big (like palm of your hand plus fingers sized) bright yellow spiders that really like to crawl into warm dark places. Especially sleeping bags. Sure, they're harmless. But they are creepy, in a whole new universe of creepyness.
All you need to do is to find ONE of these guys in your sleeping bag and from there on out you are unzipping the whole thing and turning it inside-out before you crawl in. From there you are zip-tighting the bag intil just your nose sticks out.
