The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Sheesh! You've got it worse than I do tonight.

I'm getting ready to settle in and watch American Idol.

I don't know whether it's FR or my lousy dial-up, but it's taking forever to load the pages. I'm going to throw myself in bed for a while.

Be back later!

See you when you get back....

Another hour. It's quiet here now except for my excellent choice in music. But I want anime!

Entmoot 2004: There and Back Again, a Hobbit’s Tale

Morning on Monday, Jan . 12…I didn’t get up early enough to watch the sun rise. The wind has died down and the surf isn’t as heavy. It’s supposed to be warmer today. Yay!

Mmmmm….bacon for breakfast. G’nad fried bacon and cooked eggs to order (I had scrambled with cheese on top.) Hair and Mrs. G’nad made those shake – n – pour pancakes. Ecurbh had James Taylor playing. I went back for bacon and there were two left on the plate…got one. Mrs. G’nad came back “who ate my bacon!” Uh –oh…..it was still on the paper towel and I didn’t know it was spoken for. Rosie’s trio started playing after James Taylor.

Wneighbor mixed bread while we clean up the kitchen and there’s yet another grocery list being drawn up. Ruthy posted that she’ll be coming back on Wednesday! I wrote this on the oceanside deck since it’s warmer outside today. The wind has picked up. There are fisher guys…at least three…up and down the beach. G’nad’s kids wanted to swim and/or boogeyboard in the ocean. That didn’t last long. They switched to the pool after a few minutes. G’nad said that there were jelly fish washing up on the beach. Mmmmm….Wneighbor’s bread can be smelled throughout the house while Anime is playing on the big screen. Kewl! Wneighbor’s making salsa too!

I made the Balrog Wings today. Hehehe…..I made them around lunchtime, more or less, right when g’nad, Hair, ecurbh, Ramius, and SuziQ went to pick up tickets for NASA. Later on that evening while waiting for supper, I posted on the thread that I had made the wings. That’s how Hair found out about them.

The pool guy came and told us we should keep the pool covered so it would heat properly. They covered it up so it would be nice and tasty that evening. The bug man came and sprayed…woo hoo! Jen and Rosie went out boogey-boarding and got scraped up a little on the sand. I got too close to the water (just wanted to see how cold it was) and got my jeans soaked. Laundry time coming up!

It’s a lazy afternoon at the beach kind of day and I spent the day being lazy. Spent some time staring at the water, listening to the surf, watching birds. We saw some dolphins. The fisher folk were out and there were a couple of guys out in the water looking like they might try surfing any minute. There was this older guy walking on the beach toting a golf club. Okaaaaaayyyyy……

While waiting for supper, I was keeping 2J company on the thread. Steve was at his class and she was watching The Two Towers Extended Edition that I sent. Supper. G’nad grilled chicken breasts and mushrooms and SuziQ made bowtie pasta with a white sauce that had sun-dried tomatoes in it. We had steamed broccoli, salad, and garlic bread. Mmmmmmmm…..

We watched ecurbh’s Bugs Bunny cartoons and suffered two crises: 1. the ice machine isn’t working right and 2. the remote for the DVD player went missing….AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!

After supper I just hung out with Wneighbor, Hair and Ramius on the patio. Hair wants a coconut to take home and root. Wneighbor was thinking about stealing onoe off the neighbor’s tree. (the neighbor has great landscaping.) Ramius was saying that you don’t steal from private citizens…steal from the government. That’s The Code he and his buddies lived by in college, I believe, and told how they snitched a flag from a state building. “Great!” Wneighbor says, “You can help with the coconut.” But Ramius, true to The Code, declines. There was some discussion about whether Hair could get her rooting coconut at a roadside stand or a nursery place or just asking the neighbor if she could have one from his tree. Hair posted to Ruthy asking if she (Ruthy) could get one for her.

Yeah. You can join the Animooters. I think I'm gonna buy something really weird and bring it next time.... actually I've been thinking about getting Ruoroni Kenshin, not that that's weird...

Evening..... I think Corin is givin' us the cold foot.

We went out and rode around on Bay a little.... spotted and cursed and picked up a couple large metal objects that had surfaced out in the new back forty (people are slobs) but generally feel better for having gone out!

Tonight we have The Maltese Falcon from Netflix.

How bad is the chicken wound? - What do you think the chances are for the chicken?

Horse issue ping....

What does this look like happened? This is the back of my pony's head right behind her ear, which I am holding in my hand. The epidermis skin with the hair on it dried up in a big dry flap and fell off. The skin underneath is pretty clean looking, not puffy or weepy, just new skin and doesn't seem painful, in fact the pony likes me rubbing it, as if that dead skin itched till I pulled it off. Is this what rain rot looks like or is this something else?

I love reliving Entmoot through your journal. Thanks for doing that and sharing it with us! Wish we were still there though.

*Sigh* I fought it off last night, but I think I'll make some decaf Irish coffee as soon as I do the dishes.

That supper was one of the best of the Entmoot!

Of course...that goes for many if not MOST of the dinners. Lots o' good food. And the bread was great, too! And the salsa...etc., etc., etc...

I'm happy none of the boogeyboard photos have been posted...

See ya! I've got to do the dishes and strain the broth. It's going to be cold tomorrow and some soup would hit the spot!

I've been a good Hobbit about not snacking today. We need to get SuziQ's sun-dried tomato sauce recipe for the Hobbit Cookbook.

*Sigh* Back to oatmeal for breakfast after a week of bacon, pancakes, and eggses.
