The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Some of them, seems like a lifestyle, stumped.

I can put the brownies in, too!

And WN can put in her corn bread and taquitos and salsa...

And OT has lots of good recipes. One of these days I need to ask her again for her recipe for marinated portabella mushrooms! That'll have to wait until I can get the grill out again, though.

Don't talk about food... I'm so tired, and I have three hours at the office now. Then, I'm going home and walking on the treadmill. Then I'm going to bed.

Stopped to get chicken on the way from the client site and they took fifteen minutes to get it to me. Argh. And it's flipping cold!

I don't like doing it, either!

Half the time I use a papertowel, which wastes much of the grease, but at least I don't get much on my hands.

Making dinner...bacon and eggs and salsa on a tortilla with some sauteed onion. And lunch for tomorrow - beans to put on a couple more tortillas.

I made refried beans last night, but the brothers ate ALL of 'em. So...I figured why not?

It's that quirk I have about not liking stuff on my hands. I hate the way the shortening feels!

I use a papertowel too...but I still don't like it.

Well, they are in the oven! I'm going to fix supper now.

what Steve is talkin' about is the family seperation allowance...

in the pre-9-11 era, DoD started an initiative to pay any serviceman who was deployed 400 days in a three year period a substantial family seperation bonus... not a bad program for a peacetime military... believe me, personnel planners were tryin' their damnedest not to deploy forces in a manner that they'd have to pay...

in the post 9-11 world with our small military over-extended, DoD, faced with having to pay a large population of servicemen tens of millions of dollars, canceled this bonus program...

One of these days I need to ask her again for her recipe for marinated portabella mushrooms!

Grilled Marinated Portabello Mushrooms

4 large fresh portabello mushroom caps
3 cups dry red wine
2 tbsp. shallots or red onions (minced)
2 tbsp. fresh garlic (chopped)
1/4 cup olive oil
1 Tbsp. fresh rosemary (chopped)
1/2 tsp. dry thyme
To taste salt and pepper

Place mushrooms in a shallow pan; combine remaining
ingredients and pour over the top of the mushrooms.
Marinate for 1-2 hours, turning once. Remove from marinade
and cook on hot grill for 3 minutes on each side. Slice and
serve as a side dish or main course.

Now I have to get my chicken stock started and type up my Entmoot entry.

Right now, so can I. I can't seem to get my brain out of first gear. Maybe I oughtn't try working eleven hour days?

Oh, sure! But it DOES make a good breakfast cereal, too...

Multi-talented stuff, it is.

Sigh. At least I have some nice music here.

Double sigh. No anime last night, none tonight, and none Thursday. Maybe Friday I'll get some anime. Unless I have too much homework.

I got:

My entire house vacuumed
All my vinyl mopped
Everything dusted
Three loads of laundry washed and dried (not put away yet, so sue me.)
The bathroom cleaned
Provided a cooked breakfast and lunch and now dinner for the three of us.

I look forward to going to the church library and just sitting while the boys are in Awanas! LOL

I'll watch the mail! I've already written an introductory letter explaining the knife.

I'd love a copy of your cover letter. I've been including one with knives I send out "cold", but I'm not totally satisfied with it.

I wonder what people must think when they get this knife from some group they never heard of.

mrsnad checked our invalid hen this morning... seems she has a nasty open wound that her feathers hid... you can see meat... she cleaned it with peroxide and slathered it with bacitracin... she's kinda raspy, we're hopin' she don't come down with pneumonia... she was our best egg layin' hen...

told Junior if'n I saw Vern on the place again, he was dead...
