Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Great job on the weigh in!! It's a whole New Year, so I'm optimistic about losing a lot of the weight that needs to go this year!!

is that song any better or worse than Leonard Nimoy's "Ballad of Bilbo Baggins"?I'd say better; at least it's more 'singable'!
To: Bilbo Bagpipes
Well, I was a bit obsessive when I first got started, which is pretty much my personality...so I have 17 whistles at last count.
That particular one is a "Mach 2" Feadóg D, not the old goodies that they put out and not the improved new one, but the one that isn't so good. It was good enough for me to take in a theater though, and not worry if it got stolen.
My favorite is a narrow bore D whistle made by Mack Hoover. It's a PVC whistle with a brass tuning slide. He is famous for making a "soft" whistle, but this one is as loud as my Susato and much easier to play...not so much breath needed.
I also particularly like my Meg C and I still like a Feadóg D to play while driving down the road.

My understanding, but I don't know for sure, is that the Meg is comparable to the Sweettone...same mouthpiece maybe?
I don't have a Sweettone...couldn't get anyone to give me one.
ROFLOL!!

I've got a great recipe for a "Meat crust pizza" which is just fabulous, if you want it!Sounds yummy!! Send it on!
To: SuziQ
AHEM! I posted it this past summer- made with splenda.
But here it is again:
2 8-oz pkg cream cheese, softened
0.5 c splenda
1 tsp lemon juice
0.25 tsp lime juice
2 eggs
1 Tbs heavy cream
Crust of your choice
In main bowl cream splenda and cheese. In seperate bowl beat until frothy eggs, cream, and juices. Add slowly to cream cheese whilst beating. Bake 30 min at 350. Makes 1 8-in round cake pan. For a springform pan, double recipe.

Yeah, they came out with a bad batch, from what I understand. The old ones are really good...I have one that is a friend of mine bought on Ebay for $38 and gave me! It had a nice pure sound...on the soft side. But the mouthpiece split...a problem I've had more than once with Feadógs.
Anyway, the the new improved mouthpiece on the "Mach 3" Feadógs are good if you like the particular sound a cylindrical whistle puts out...which I do. Comparable to a good Gen.
The worst whistle I ever blew? A Dixon Tuneable D. Yuck-ola.

the local high school gives ONLY the black kids the day off - no one else.Clare and I just had a laugh about that. She asked who would get Columbus Day off; I thought it might be the Indians. She also wondered if the Pagan kids got the day off on the Winter Solstice.
To: SuziQ
Great job on the weigh in!!Thanks! Of all the things we've tried in the past, going low-carb has been by far the most effective, as well as the easiest.
The lack of sweets kills me, but I don't miss potatos, bread, pasta, or rice in the least.

Have I mentioned that I miss the food?We did eat well, didn't we?
To: ItsOurTimeNow
Heh...when I was doing a run down of the screen names, you got introduced first as the guy who lives in Rhode Island...and has a really cute daughter. ;-)
OK, so there's a little more to you than that, but...

And the boss left a tin of wafer rolls on his desk with a sign that says "help yourself".Bad boss!! Bad, bad!
To: SuziQ
We did eat well, didn't we? We did! Settling back in to my own cooking is kinda depressing.
Though lunch isn't all that bad. It's sort of a stroganoff (dunno how to spell it) without the meat. I had broth and sour cream and all.
To: Overtaxed
Hehehe...the fearsome Hobbit knife....trolls beware!I wonder if it glows blue when Islamofascists are around.
To: RosieCotton
sounds better than what i'm eating!
