This is a thread for readers and writers of poetry. You are welcome to join in this quiet room, but please respect a few rules that will assure that this thread is easy to read, loads quickly, and maintains the confidence of the poets and readers.
1. Only original poetry, please. All poems are the property of the posting poet. Please do not copy or reproduce in another area.
2. Shhhh! Please keep chat or comments to a minimum.
3. No huge graphics, blinking smiley faces, etc. Just words, please. Let your words paint the image! (Plus, it's easier for dial-up friends to browse.)
That's it. Now, get busy and write!

    Love me baby
says the tape
is it an eight track
or beta so neat
or a new an improved
little cassette rocking
out the night
love me baby
the lyrics shout
anyway I am about
to take a flight and I'm
in a mood for bed rolls
starry nights and someone
who will
love me back baby
out of the blue

    play the tune
that atones
for attitudes
and assignations
shared
at dawns
past

O que quero dizer

a madrugada é
o bem-me-quer o que
não falta
petala
o dia o que começa
sem as respostas
às questões, sem
roscas nem sombras
das rosas, o canção
do solidão, a flor
o que existe ,
para o destruição
por causa dos peregrinos
da meia noite, os
que procurarem
a certeza

without dawn
and a garden
without thorns

    love
is the acrylic
anticipation
of tommorrow
framed
in today's
gilt memories

    If I had the notion
of love I suppose
I would call it
a telephone pole
pasted with notices
of lost dogs, cats,
stuff for sale,
lose weight
gain confidence
earn money learn spanish
french, chinese,
get your house cleaned
cheap, bonded,
learn how to
transcendental meditate,
numbers and notices that flap
in a weather made by water,
wind and passing traffic,
raising dust and lifting the skirts
of the posters placed
one upon the other petticoats
that swirl obscuring and alluring
but preserving
the message with each added layer
I think its still there,
that old notice
number and advert,
 loves invitation, not lost
in translation or the mail
but given to the world
and posted with a nail.

    unnoticed ... unfurled
 plantive wants
 amid the swirl
of a mad world
 grasping at the thrill
 and another waits
 hoping not to scream ...
 wasting time

    Twins

We balanced upon two
discrete paths
of parallel steel tracks,
poised over
clinkers and creosote,
hooking and hiking
arms extended
over the dark half
moons on our shirts
 that described
the sweat of our
enterprise.

In the sunsplit
leafy shadows
that shook the
moment of restless
adventuring and future
determination , the dark
shuttered the exposure
of the white explosion
of too much, too light.
And our equilibrium
defied by teetering
and lost footing
 we almost
brushed against
 each other across
the blank accident
that derails the best
 laid plans. So we loomed
alone along the distraction
of crotched paths
fading into the woods
 and splitting from
one to become two.

The symmetry of
our separation
defined the indifferent
steel we paced towards
the same destination.

    dark nights
in the south
windless
stillness
frog-sound silent
humid
and dripping
spanish moss

for an if-away
in which
the blind
are kind

    i dreamed
dragon flight
blues and bronzes
flitting
in an amber dawn
drawn to the sound
of tails on scales
clashing flashing
fusing
an old day
in a new way

late at night
last really
remembering
the day
and play
of words
and worlds
separated
by a promise
but trusting
your truth

I danced alone.

 in iridescent light
 twilight hues
 midnight blues
 corals in green
 I remembered
 the loveliness we had
