This is a thread for readers and writers of poetry. You are welcome to join in this quiet room, but please respect a few rules that will assure that this thread is easy to read, loads quickly, and maintains the confidence of the poets and readers.
1. Only original poetry, please. All poems are the property of the posting poet. Please do not copy or reproduce in another area.
2. Shhhh! Please keep chat or comments to a minimum.
3. No huge graphics, blinking smiley faces, etc. Just words, please. Let your words paint the image! (Plus, it's easier for dial-up friends to browse.)
That's it. Now, get busy and write!
nihilism...what's the point?
transfixed
by semiotic
sighs
blue encrusted
in a closinet
window
i gaze
reluctant
you forget
so easily
the might be
of maybe
she said
we were
and i thought
why not
tomorrow
Dual
My cat bats
at the shadows
that hang upside down
from the ceiling,
teaching the reluctantly
retreating phrases
of night
the meaning of
subordination
to independent claws
while soft paws
retract the necessary
aggression of midnight
she pats down dawn
approves , and lets
it pass for now.
slowly
she sold
her insights
framed in sighs
of fear
and success
some planes
defy
the geometry
of exception
expectation
being
more
the moment
of acceptance
than uprising
i define
the nature
of my need
by the quality
of your
silence
Mahi Mahi
a fish
so nice
they named
it twice
My silence is my need
to cool the fire of passion
before exhausting your
quality of silence.
Types with cat
keyboard corruption
trojan cat bearing a gift,
feed me now virus.
Cowardly lines
Pop up monitor
cat corners keyboard soldier
dinner surrendered..
type with cat?
good luck with that!
LOL!
Intact
Cat on keyboard,
inspiration unaltered
typos multiply
there are
no words
to the song
of the sea
what noise does
the ocean make
except to slap
and lap
against a wooden hull
or break upon
a silent shore?
left to itself
it rolls and runs
silent, wordless
keeping a thousand
mysteries
unuttered
and singing
only when stirred
by a wind or a sail
a silent sea
promises nothing
expects everything
but yields up treasures
as quietly as she takes them
and yields up pleasures
as joyfully as she makes them
dinner at nine
undefeated cats
consolidate, colour up
seek other tables.
she sought
the symbolism
of a cat
crouching
inspired
by spring
prey
and prayer
of redemption
punctuate
a sentence
whispered
