Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban [the trailer is up, and it looks great]
MSNBC Entertainment ^

Posted on 11/18/2003 5:12:22 AM PST by Chancellor Palpatine

Opting for a producer-only role this time, director Chris Columbus passes the Harry Potter baton off to Alfonso Cuarón (Y Tu Mamá También) for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third film in the series. Daniel Radcliffe returns as the bespectacled young wizard who is now in his third year at Hogwarts. After and incident that sees his anger get the best of him, Harry runs away from the school. Unfortunately, the magical wunderkind soon learns that Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) has escaped from Azkaban prison and is after him. Along with Oldman, the additions to the cast the third time around include David Thewlis and Michael Gambon, who assumes the role of Professor Albus Dumbledore, previously played by the late Richard Harris. ~ Matthew Tobey, All Movie Guide

That one is my fave (other people prefer "Azkaban") - but you're right, there are soooo many elements to it that it would be a stretch to cram into 3 hours.

The Bott's Beans are actually manufactured by Jelly Belly, Ronald Reagan's favorite jelly bean maker. The majority in each box seem to be "normal" jelly bean flavors, but they throw in some interesting ones too.

Nah - I wouldn't look for it until next fall. She seems to like to hold them about a year to 18 months.

Can someone tell me where they buy these beans?

Starbucks in Barns and Noble or Boarders, I expect other big book store chains might have them.

Thanks for the ping, CP.

Michael Gambon.

Old Shakespearean actor -- should be OK as Dumbledore.

Thewlis looks plausible as Lupin.

What I worry about is one of the kids leaving - that would be kinda awful.

They will have to make a cast change soon, if they plan on doing every book into a movie. Woth a schedule of every two years or so, the cast (kids) will out grow the part within the next couple of years.Do you really want to see a 20 year old Harry at Hogwarts?
Now a 21 year old Hermione...That might be interesting.....

I'm more of a Potter lurker than a Potter poster, but I'd like to be on the list.

Though I don't understand how anyone could prefer "Order of the Phoenix" over "Goblet of Fire."

The trailer did look good, but I wish it 1.) had more shots of Lupin (Thewlis), and 2.) had some actual dialogue instead of the Hogwart's choir (huh?) singing the whole time.

This is a teaser, not a trailer. It's just supposed to pique your interest... and I guess it worked. :)

I don't get this either. The robes really reinforce the setting in my mind.

Well, the movie making really is on a 1-year cycle, not 2. Warner Brothers originally pushed back the release of Azkaban so that it wouldn't come out the same time as Matrix: Revolutions. I don't know if it was a studio decision or a production problem that pushed it from March to June.

As for the ages, as they get further into the books, it is less of a problem -- 21 playing 17 works is more believable than 17 playing 13...

You don't think a 20-year-old can play a 17-year-old? By my calculations, if it takes 18 months for each movie -- 3,4,5,6,7 -- the kids will be less than three years older than their characters.

I have gotten more responses over the ways to get beans than anything I have ever posted! LOL! THANKS!!! I will most definitely be getting some beans (and chocolate frogs!!!) for myself. . .er. . .my son!
I have waaaaaaaaaay too much time on my hands over here, and I have found some great web sites on HP fandom. . .I recommend www.sugarquill.net for anyone who wants to read some great fan fiction. Admittedly, some of it is silly and dumb, but there are some great writers as well! (And a few really long, novel legnth stories that are pretty fun)
However, on their forums, about half are theories on whether Hermione will end up with Ron or Harry. . .
