re: 8096

Nothing special about me, my interests have always been in the old ways.

some I mastered, some I didn't. I can bake from scratch, but Grandpa always looked at my gravy and said "OH goody, gravy and dumplings".......LOL

I was born to sharecroppers on a Texas panhandle dirt - dry farm and lived in San Diego from 1940 to 1969.

I am 3/4 Cherokee, dad's mom was from Scotland, so even my genes aren't sure who I am.

I think living during WW2 and being a reader all my life, has made me always more aware of what was coming. Things like buying horse meat at the local store or how that dad raised and sold rabbits and chickens to make money during the war.

And being hungry, when he spent on booze instead of food.

As the oldest of 5 kids, I grew up fast.

There is nothing special about me.

OK, my sister says I can be difficult, when I think I know more about the days happenings, cause I read all the facts at Free Republic and she watched one news report on TV.

There were several letters that I didn't get to answer, will try again tomorrow, but I am thankful for the warm welcome all the FReepers have offered.
