Well, I read that NY City is on "orange plus" alert -- that sounds to me as RED Alert, they just don't want to use those words.

WASHINGTON — The NYPD (search) is beefing up anti-terror efforts at concert halls, sports arenas, theaters and other places where large crowds gather as the city turns a deeper shade of orange than the rest of the nation, law-enforcement sources say.



And my guess is, that so is Los Angeles.

This makes sense and I think New Yorker's can feel more safe because of the stepped up extras they are doing.
