Listening to aircraft scanner traffic in the last hour here in Central PA, I heard an interesting question from a private aviation pilot to controllers: "Is the expanded Camp David thing in effect?" Unfortunately, the response from the controller was unintelligible to me. But the exchange implies that there is some extra level of precaution either in place or contemplated for this potential "target" . . .

Things that make me very concerned this time around:

- Rumsfeld & Ashcroft being called back to Washington and cancelling Christmas vacation plans

- Today's planned "government continuity" exercises (per article on Yahoo..can't find it right now but read it earlier).

- FEMA at highest level (per earlier post from someone)

- SAM batteries being deployed in several locations (posts here, and also articles on Yahoo earlier)

- All of the (higher than usual) amount of bravado being posted by people like EOM and Dareel. (OK..this could be kids play acting, but there seems to be too much to some of it).

Seems plausible that the info on SteveQuayle's (sp) site is what we're up against - cargo planes loaded with WMD originating overseas. Are the WMDs nukes? Sure would seem to be a possibility based on the actions being taken (government CONTINUITY for cryin' out loud?)

I concur with what was said here earlier, though..the rags have NO idea what they are messing with. IF they tried something like this, the retaliation would be MASSIVE against any foreign govt even REMOTELY associated with terrorism or sponsorship. Buh bye, Iran! (And oh so many others).

Whaddya guys think? Are things coming unglued this time around? I put the odds at about 50% personally and pray to God that I am wrong.

That's been in place for a very long time, and pilots have indeed been intercepted, detained, and sometimes reprimanded for violating CD airspace.

Reminds me, a friend (with his young daughter) was once grilled and fined by Executive Police (basically uniformed Secret Service) for gathering firewood too close to CD. He was new to the area and was completely unaware that CD was nearby, or even that it was in Maryland.
