If you are right with the idea of a parade and Times Square, then I think this was an old plan/map. My first thought would have been the Thanksgiving Day parade.

Unless, maybe News Years Eve?

its not possible to get anywhere near times square with a truck bomb on new years eve. even a huy with a suicide belt would be hard, as the police "herd" everyone into gated pens constructed on the street. everyone who enters must pass by the police.
