Ramadan: The Self-Proclaimed Month of Islamic Holy War
A radical Moslem group based in Britain is increasing its rhetoric of violence during the Islamic Feast of Ramadan.
In a recent press release Omar Bakri Muhammad and his group Al-Muhajiroun (www.muhajiroun.com), said that "participating in Jihad (an Islamic holy war) is a duty on every Muslim and it needs to be supported physically, verbally and financially."
Muhammad has been linked to British suicide bombers in Israel and has also issued calls to overthrow the British government.
The document writer added that it is during Ramadan the plans for many suicide bombings begin to take shape.
The writer continued, "Whenever Ramadan entered, the neighbouring nations used to be terrified knowing that this month could mean their total annihilation by the Lions of Islam ... To exert oneself and others to conquer the world should be one of the attributes of all Muslims. Supplicating to Allah ... and asking to be part of the victorious sect (Taaifah Mansourah) is definitely a status worthy of dying for. This was what many Mujahids have engaged in throughout the history of Islam and especially in Ramadan."
The writer said that Muhammad saw the rewards of Jihad to be those of "astronomical proportions."
"A man said: ‘Oh Messenger of Allah, tell me of an act that equals Jihad Feesabeelillah (in the way of Allah).' He (saw) answered: ‘You will not be capable of it.' The man said: ‘Tell me anyway.' The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Can you, (when a Mujihad has gone out on an expedition), fast without interruption and spend the night in continuous prayer?' The man said: ‘No.' Then the Messenger of Allah said: ‘This then is what equals Jihad.'"
The document writer continued by saying that one day of Jihad making Allah "the most supreme" is more valuable than any other religious devotion.
This devotion to Jihad was exemplified by Daleel Almojahid, also known as Salaah Aldeen, who has been using a computer at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (www.aus.ac.ae) to send messages warning of alleged upcoming al Qaeda attacks on New York, Washington and Los Angeles.
In his most recent message to his Yahoo Groups message board, Almojahid/Aldeen wrote in part, "A well coordinated al Qaida attack in Turkey has at least killed 16 and injured
146 after two cars laden with explosives simultaneously detonated near two Jewish synagogues in Istanbul. Al qaida has threatened Israel recently and promises ... more attacks ... The recent attack is one of major attacks we promise to deliver in the coming few weeks and we are sure that Israel will start seeing how we deliver our promises not knowing where the next hit is. We also promise Muslims around the world that the gift for the (sic) eid is on the way to both the American government and to the Israeli government, and what gifts they are!"
