Radical British-Based Islamic Group Warns of Possible Attack
During President Bush's Upcoming Visit to London:
Says Security Alert is Justified

In light of threats from al Qaeda, a radical British-based Islamic group is advising Muslims not to demonstrate against President George W. Bush when he visits London on Nov.20

A Nov. 14 2003 press release from Al-Muhajiroun says there is an "overriding grave and very real threat of an operation, similar to 9/11, against the U.S. President."

With that in mind, the document reads in part "With this in mind we, Al-Muhajiroun, urge those within the Muslim community to be responsible and not to encourage Muslims to demonstrate on the 20th of November 2003, which might thereby make Muslims part of a target if any operation does take place. It is a responsibility upon the heads of all Islamic Movements to warn Muslims of this danger and the wise people among non-Muslims will no doubt do the same."

The release continues by saying that the security measures for Bush's upcoming London visit are wise, "considering the hatred held for George Bush across the world for the heinous crimes committed by his fascist regime (together with the dictator Blair) in Afghanistan and now in Iraq. Although Muslims in Britain have a covenant of security and are therefore not allowed to target anyone in the UK, the same evidently does not apply for Muslims from abroad or who do not have such a covenant, as was transparent on 9/11."

The writer advises Muslims to stay away from any "high risk" targets that day, such as the Israeli and American embassies.

Citing a list of Bush's and British Prime Minister Tony Blair's alleged wrongdoings, the release writer says it is easy to understand why people plan to demonstrate on Nov. 20. Calling Bush the "pharaoh of today" and Blair his "partner in crime," the writer comments "The list of reasons to demonstrate includes atrocities committed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan and Palestine, the call to stop further aggression in Iraq, the call to stop the funding of the pirate State of Israel and the call for the punishment of Bush and Blair for their many and continuing crimes."

Further emphasizing the need for Muslims not to get involved in demonstrations the day Bush visits London, the release writer asks both the Muslim Council of Britain and the Islamic Society of Britain not to demonstrate and to ask other Muslims to follow suit.

The document concludes by saying "Finally, we would like to emphasize that regardless of the high and real risks involved, it is not allowed (i.e. prohibited) for any Muslims to participate in any demonstrations organized by non-Muslims, be they MP's, communists, anarchists or socialists, such as those demonstrations which are in fact due to take place on the day in question."

The man behind Al-Muhajiroun, Omar Bakri Muhammad, (www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=25307) was born in Aleppo, Syria, in 1958 and grew up in a wealthy Muslim family, becoming a serious student of Islam and the Koran. He received his B.A. in Shari'ah and the foundations of Islamic law from Shari'ah University in Damascus, obtaining a master's degree in Islamic jurisprudence from the University of Al-Imam Al-U'zaie in Beirut.

       According to the Middle East Media Research Institute (http://memri.org/bin/articles.cgi?Page=archives&Area=ia&ID=IA7301), Muhammad portrays himself as being the spokesman for bin Laden's International Islamic Front for Jihad against Jews and Crusaders and according to MEMRI has admitted that the organization raises funds for the Hamas, the Islamic Jihad, and is "in touch" with the Hizbullah.

       According to MEMRI, Muhammad has lived in London since 1985 and preaches at a number of London mosques. He also routinely presents himself as a spokesman for the International Islamic Front, which he describes as being the political wing of Osama bin Laden's Islamic Front for Jihad against Jews and Crusaders.

Muhammad has also been linked to British suicide bombers in Israel and has also issued calls to overthrow the British government
