Mesaba Airlines to end service to Grand Rapids
http://www.bradenton.com/mld/bradenton/business/7727791.htm (snipped)....Mesaba, which takes its name from the American Indian word for "soaring eagle," was founded by Gordon Newstrom in 1944 and used its first plane, purchased for $1,300, to shuttle employees of the Blandin Paper Co. between Grand Rapids and the Twin Cities.
