In terms of the word "Tahiya", I ran across this:
An Odissi dancer has elaborate hair-do in a knot adorned with the "Tahiya" which represents a temple tower.

I had to look at the site just to see was "perfarts.htm" meant! LOL Looks to be performing arts. Thanks for the link.

Orissa is a state in north eastern India, the language spoken there is Orissan (I think sometimes called Oriyan?). That is the sum total of my knowledge about it, except that most languages in India (and elsewhere, actually) stem from Sanskrit.
