Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles - Daily Terror Threat

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Has anyone heard more about the hazmat thingie in the basement of the Capitol building? I heard a blurb on Fox, that I thought they said it was something to it. Some kind of biological agent? Anyone else hear this? They haven't repeated it this morning and it was the middle of a sleepless night I heard it. I could EASILY have misunderstood.

The "miracle" of 19, is a recent find - 1974. Since the discovery, and particularly in the case of someone like UBL this verse has been used as a prophetic call to war. I honestly do not know everything behind the number 19, I have been trying to figure it out since late 2001 and it still stumps me a bit. ;-)

No, I do not.

a) I don't give those people that much credit and
b) the US 'grid' is already 'split' (exists operationally, for the most part) in three sections!

Years and years ago - before the "interconnection" of different areas and their loads and generating sources reliability of electrical power generation was far *worse* compared to today since any failure of the local generator due to any reason: boiler failures/prime mover failures (including brush failures), transmission failures caused by breaker or switch failures, or transformer failures ... interconnecting allowed 'neighboring' systems to be *more* reliable, not less.

Tightly tying systems together today, though, requires that safety and islolating breakers and protective devices be properly set up (one of those failed in 1965 and took down the NE US) and monitored by the "system operators" (this was the failure last year 2003, IMO, involving FirstEnergy's control room).

Ahhh ... which NY Blackout - there has been, really, only one "NY Blackout" and that was in 1977. (1965 was regional, the NE area and 2003 was an even bigger regional event!).

New York has, however, been 'blacked out' to due to much larger, encompassing blackouts in 1965 and of course in 2003 ...

Last year's (2003 blackout) was primarily of a green regional system coordinator (MISO) coupled with a control room "in the blind" (First Energy) and a short, late season warm spell that stressed the system just enough such that certain lines sagged into trees (some that were on the shortlist with tree-trimming crews in the area to do just that!) ...

I believe Osama himself will lead a nuclear assault on NYC bore the end of this current Muslim year (1424). I believe the references to Eid al_Adha are real.

Between now and 01/02 Feb 2004.

Muslim new year being 22 Feb 2004.

Osama said he would launch his martrydom before the end of the current year and that it would be "in the belly of the eagle".

There was a post around 3 am by chicagolady (I think). She was at work and saw something on TV and another poster wondered if it was the same hazmat situation as earlier in the day. But, the clip on TV was at night so I don't know if there were two episodes or one. The "explanation" I heard (on this thread) was a cleaning solution, I think. Sorry to be so vague but I was so tired! Maybe someone else picked up on this.

Without on-going training programs - people lose their edge and their abilities. I would expect that these groups have to be active *now* in order to maintain that edge, otherwise, time erodes skills, training and any critical thinking abilites those individuals once possesed.

I fail to see, with with I just wrote in mind, how a big benefit can be made of a black-out sitution; my beleif is that these people inhrently would make themselves visible by persuing any form of training program, therefore, *if* they are actually here in numbers (someting I do not subscibe to) their skills have got to be growing awfully rusty from non-use and zero training ...
