[history]
Monday, November 3, 2003
A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Meant to include our last grassroots movement this summer. My daughter and I were the only protestors in chicago but when the illegals were on their way, the busride, they were in fact stopped by Border Agents in Texas. The bus had two congress critters aboard and stopped the agents from asking for green cards...so the loclas have no respect from Feds etc. We raised hell about this but Ridge's attitude is who gives an sh?

Thanks very much, StillProud2BeFree.
I wonder, tho..what on earth in homesecurityus.com waiting for in their translation of this?
It almost strikes me as someone who puts up a bunch of text in Arabic to scare the bajeebus out of everyone, then sits on it (intentionally?) for a while to maximize the impact.
Makes me wonder about their motives.

I finally heard Fox mention the story on Port of Valdez. They said three tankers were told to move out of the port. There are aircraft patroling the area. That's all they said, it was a very short report.

British Airways Cancels Flight to D.C.
1 hour, 25 minutes ago Add Top Stories - AP to My Yahoo!
LONDON - British Airways canceled one of its three daily flights from London to Washington on Thursday following security advice from the government, a spokesman for the airline said.
A Department of Transport spokeswoman said she was unable to comment on matters of security or whether the cancellation was a result of a specific threat.
The same flight, BA 223, on Wednesday was kept on the tarmac at Washington Dulles International Airport for several hours shortly after landing. U.S. authorities questioned all passengers and crew on board, the spokesman said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The spokesman said alternative arrangements had been made for the 180 passengers on Thursday's flight, which had been scheduled to leave London's Heathrow airport at 10:05 a.m.
He added that neither of the two other daily flights to Washington had been canceled.

MARK.
A great thread to have started and maintained.
From "fringe" sites to a fullblown international alert, this is one hell of a chronology of the past couple of months.
It's a tribute to the boys on watch all over the world that not one major attack outside of a warzone has been succesfully executed.

How about how far would the radiation travel and what distance in geography would be uninhabitable? Hi, I know LANL (Los Alamos National Laboratories), Lawrence Livermore and UC Berkeley maintain the most sophisticated super-computer models for predicting radioactive dispersal (in addition to blast effects). As you might imagine, there are hundreds and thousands of variables that enter in and influence the results.
Where I live, next to the Hanford Reservation, they utilized these models while Hanford was actively involved in special materials production, mainly in case of accident. We also have the favor of living 30 miles from the Unmatilla Chemical Weapons Depot, where they are getting close to destroying the sarin stockpiles and are also interested in dispersal patterns.
As far as detection technologies, there are numerous sorts of signatures that special materials like plutonium possess, including the emission of particles and rays. If you wanted to find radioactive material hidden in a city, you might want to use something like a whole-city-block CT Scanner (speculation; don't know if such a thing exists).

Unmatilla = Umatilla, Oregon.

Careful clicking on some jihadi sites unless your battle shields are up.
Best to pass 'em by.
Sometimes antijihadi hackers throw traps and bombs on the sites, and a curious person, rather, their PC, can become the unwitting victim of a scheme to sabotage jihadis computers.

Thanks for the heads up. My PC is still acting rather strange, so one of my best friends is on the way over today to see what she can do (she works as a programmer on our state's mainframe and is my resident specialist in times of distress).
Thanks again.
