Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles - Daily Terror Threat

Monday, November 3, 2003

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Linda Vester says that people wanted by the Saudis are on web sites reading their wills. (Linda Vester is fluent in Arabic.)

I don't know much about streets, but it sures looks like a city to me. The streets are very close together and they run perpendicular to each other.

Ijaz thinks we are being misdirected and that US interests outside the US will be hit.

Ijaz says the articles in the WP and NYT today are true. Pakistan sold nuclear secrets to Axis of Evil.

its not possible to get anywhere near times square with a truck bomb on new years eve. even a huy with a suicide belt would be hard, as the police "herd" everyone into gated pens constructed on the street. everyone who enters must pass by the police.

How hard would it be to pop up out of a manhole? Do they park stuff on top of manholes?

pakistan is the big nugget in this whole war on terror. hard to say how we can deal with them, the best result might be the overthrow of Musharaff followed by a nuclear attack from India, orchestrated by us of course, so our hands stay clean.

Okay, events have shown they have an easier time hitting outside the US, and tend to dlubb it state-side for all sorts of reasons. So a Ijaz predicts the most probable outcome, not expecially precocious of him, now, is it?

I don't know. The show is Greta Von Sustern's show, "On the Record," but Linda Vester is subbing tonight.

Ijaz also said that Mushareff of Pakistan has ordered the head of the nuclear program to be interrogated. The nuclear program guy is apparently just a little bit more moderate than Osama bin Laden. Vester says this paints a bigger target on Mushareff's back. Ijaz agrees. He says the US should offer monitoring devices and tracking methods to keep track of the materials and scientists.

"Well, here we are, almost 3,000 posts into this thread, and all we have is some guy--Daleel, Dada, Da Loser, whatever his name is--talking trash on a Yahoo! board."

We gain nothing by dismissing the threats of Daleel out of hand. I don't think we don't know enough about "Daleel" to make that judgement. We do know, however, that the same threats are being made by many different people now, and that some of the people making the threats are known to have ties to terrorist groups. Ridge made both points earlier today

The stakes are too high for us to dismiss their threats and to rely on the belief that all will be well. In my opinion, we simply don't know because we don't have enough information.

Never underestimate your enemy. Those of us who are problem solvers on a daily basis can usually figure out a way to do what needs to be done regardless of obstacles.I am sure they could do the same.

but this is a perfect example: why can't this pakistani nuclear scientist be hit by the CIA? how hard can it be to kill this guy?

I agree. I am just reporting. Ijaz has had some good information and some stuff that was completely false. I listen to him to see what information he has picked up. His analysis is not especially great.

9/11 aside, most of their attacks are very one dimensional: the truck drives up to the target and is exploded. the small boat sails next to the destroyer and is exploded. the bomber boards a bus and explodes.

What irks me is we still haven't solved the case of the ultra-c4-type clay missing out of that Newark airplane.

Who knows what you could do with the stuff.

Well, I don't know. IS he a danger, or is that simply what Ijaz says? If we take him out, does he have underlings who would do the same thing? Do we have assets in Pakistan that are capable of getting close to him and killing him without it being blamed on the US?

The CIA is good, but they aren't superhuman.

superhuman? the mafia kills a few guys every month here in NY. and it would send a good message to the underlings. as an alternative, don't kill him, take his wife and kids hostage and blackmail him. i know it sounds harsh, but we are talking about the potential for nukes to make their way into the US.
