[history]
Monday, November 3, 2003
A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Probably depends on what the meaning of "is" is. ROFL

here's one that may have slipped under the radar. everyone is worried about the SOTU and Phoenix but no one has mentioned Pres. Bush will be in Toledo, Ohio tomorrow. why do i think this is cause for concern? Detroit , MI has the largest middle eastern population in the US and is an hour north of Toledo, perfect place for terrorists to hide. Canada is 25 miles across Lake Erie, easy access. Davis Bessie and Fermi II nuclear reactors are both within site distance of Toledo, less than 60 miles apart i would guess. why am i worried? i live 10 minutes south of Toledo. just thought I'd add that to the pot.

Fox News just had a 5 second blub about it. Now, they are back to the stupid Democrats.

Thanks, for anything. It's appreciated.

Liz, can you believe it? Democrat nonsense 24/7. I've never seen anything like it, since OJ.
To: StillProud2BeFree
Thank you so much. GOod to know it's nothing of urgency. :)

I would not rely on the 911 phone system for anything.
My safety is my responsibility. The 911 phone system can be a life saver during 'normal' times, but during any type of catastrophic event, I fear we will all be on our own for a while.
It's not a bad idea to discuss such things with neighbors but they may think you're crazy. Heck, my roommate thinks I'm a paranoid. Nevertheless, just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not after me. lol.
Sad thing is, who even knows their neighbors anymore. Im pretty lucky. I know my neighbors and speak with them regularly. We watch out for each other. Odd in this day and age.

You're very blessed. I think most of us don't know our neighbors. I'm a little more fortunate, in some respects, because I do, less fortunate, in some respects, because I do. :(
I think we all need to give careful thoughts to our particular neighborhoods, with an eye toward survival.
Don't let your roomie read this post, or they'll swear you are in good company. :)

no prob - just thought I'd set the record straight; he was just copying something.
To: rickylc
Good grief. You're right, I hadn't thought of Ohio. It is a real mess, in places.

Thank you! It is meant in earnest. Just read today that Sears is outsourcing its IT department...we are bleeding jobs out of this country and no politician has the guts to address it. It's my guess that standing up against outsourcing causes fear of political contribution loss (corporate retribution).

Living here, the nuclear reactors have been a constant worry for me. it was worrisome even before the current terrorist threat. it's rather unsettling to be fishing for walleye on a warm summer evening and look up to see two nuclear reactors, one on each shoreline (ohio shore and michigan shore). a boat on lake erie could hit both of them from the same location with a rocket munition. canada is just a proverbial stone's throw across lake erie.

I rarely post but lurk throughout the entire day. My husband has begun to ask me to check here to see what is new! This is the most informative thread I have seen on FR. Ignore the naysayers!

I have family in Toledo and worry for them. I've gone fishing on Lake Erie and seen the nuclear plants from the water and you're correct, it's a simple boat ride across the lake with no security between Canada and points south.
To: rickylc
I don't think that you have to worry about nuclear reactors unless someone got inside the plant with the help of our police and military. I have read, and maybe someone can help me with the source(s), that tests have been done by flying a 747 into cement wall that is similar to that around a reactor. The crash had no affect the simulated core and no release of simulated nuclear radiation was found.

Thanks, definitely an unexpected post to this particular thread from someone with the name 'crabbie'. =)
