We Thank Thee Lord
For sunset tints in a prairie sky
Where cloud-flotillas sail swiftly by,
For sheen of wheat on a windswept plain,
For winter snow and summer rain,
We thank Thee Lord.
For trees and shade and sweet scented flowers,
For birds that sing through the morning hours,
For autumn gold and the myriad hues
Of leaf and fruit - reds, purples and blues,
We thank Thee Lord.
For the ocean's breadth, and one small space
Which is my home, and a loved one's face,
For firelight's glow when the day is spent,
For books and music and a soul content,
We thank Thee Lord.
For shelter and food and busy hands,
For friends and a heart that understands,
For a dream and faith and the will to do
An appointed task - to see it through.
We thank Thee Lord.
