The part in the story I like is about the gal who complained about not getting her road plowed. Reminds me of Idaho...a lot of Californians are moving in to retire and the first thing they do is start bitch'n about the lack of services...be they medical, road maintenance, yadda, yadda.
One nut moved in from the Bay area and bought the local hamburger-taco business. The first winter in town he wrote a scathing editorial in the local weekly newspaper about the poor air quality due to wood stoves. He lasted one more year and sold the business and moved to Arizona or some such suitable place. The locals are unforgiving when people start on the "this isn't way it's done in (fill in space)".

For 15 years I lived in a little house where our only heat source was a wood stove. It is such a luxury now to just turn the thermostat for central AC or heat.
