I am a woman in my twenties living in London, not far from Pimlico. At dinner in Wandsworth recently, over roast duck and a second bottle, a friend I have known since our all-girls schooling days explained her politics to me. She did not mention anything vaguely ideological, nor did she offer any thoughts on the big issues of the day like housing, tax, migration or the economy. She said, quite sincerely, that she just wants people to be happy. Everyone at the table nodded, and so, I confess, did I. Nobody asked what that would mean for the asylum backlog, the prison estate or the deficit, because asking would have been unkind, and there is nothing so unwelcome at a good dinner as a question.
She is not unusual. She is clever, beautifully educated and headed for exactly the kind of job that shapes what the rest of the country is told is reasonable. And she has arrived at her politics the way one arrives at a favourite restaurant: by habit, in good company, without ever deciding to.
Mainstream commentary has little interest in women like her. Besides one piece in the New Statesman by Scarlett Maguire and Emily Lawford, few have attempted to understand what the great political divide between young women and men actually looks like or what it has been caused by. This is despite the fact that it is visible everywhere: a rapidly growing share of young women are assimilating into a politics that imagines itself to be antagonistic to the present system, feel themselves to be alienated from and hostile to the ‘system’ — and to men especially.

The Muslims will fix this problem.
I recollect that the Occupy Wall Street crowd, and subsequent similar groups, had plenty of instances of chicks camping out got raped.
Radical chicks are just into the anarchy.
Adam Carolla calls it gynofascism
Allowing women to have political power will go down as one of the worst mistakes of the 20th century.

“It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers-out of unorthodoxy.”
George Orwell, 1984
Wow !! So spot on !!
Yep. I mean, they're right on the role of gender roles in society.
It wasn't that bad in the West until the Baby Boomers took over the political system.
Here we are.
Go into any bar...and plenty of women drinking...even go back to the old westerns...
How the hell can you tell people what they should drink, smoke or eat. Yet it happens every day.
feel, feel, feel
So what this woman is saying, without saying it, is maybe there is a reason, that throughout history, women were generally not permitted to engage in politics.
“I think of a man, and then I take away reason and accountability.”
It used to be known as the Oprahizing of America. These are the young women who idolize the “Hamas Freedom Fighters”, but either don’t know or don’t care about the atrocities they perpetrated on young Israeli women like them on Oct. 7th. Reminds of the three smiling German girls holding the sign “Rapist over Racists”. Hope none of them ever had to live up to that sentiment.
Why aren’t we fixing the problem?
There should’ve been a hundred thousand man rush 30 years ago to have conservatives all become teachers.
There isn’t a 100,000 man rush today. We keep right on letting progressives own the schools and manufacture new leftist voters.
I always hear about teacher shortages. This is a motivation problem.
I think it started in 1920. They were never satisfied. Nothing will ever be enough.
As kids become more unruly and school administrations refuse to endorse strong discipline on students...teaching becomes a thankless profession.
Any young man who can stays far away from it these days.
The long term solution is going to have to be the abolition of public schools.
Imho there is no way to fix them.
Certain truth
Wonder what would happen to these young women if men just checked out. Don’t make things, don’t fix things, don’t lift things. Do nothing that requires mechanical knowledge or brute strength. Let all the ‘administrators’ figure out how to get things done that men do that they can’t. Have them call their friendly illegal alien or in Britian, Muslim neighbor. You have flat? Hope you know how to use a jack and have the strength to loosen the lug nuts. Men allow themselves to be used. We were all raised to take of women. Feminists used that to their advantage. We held the door so the girl could get in the office and get the job before we got there.
My mom taught me how to cook, bake, wash clothes, iron and sew buttons. My dad taught me how to do the guy stuff. Neither ever taught my two highly educated sisters to do any of that. So, guess who got called when someone needed something fixed? Used to be me. Now that I’m 75, it’s my 46-year-old blue collar nephew in law or his son.
Ive been hearing these words for decades. What you said is nothing new.
“yeah but its REALLY out of control now!”
Self fulfilling prophesy.
The loop that feeds the loop because the only thing required for evil to succeed is when good men do nothing. Especially good men as a whole, not “one” singulars, such as myself or yourself. One-off conservatives do get hired as teachers, every now and then. It’s not like its zero.
Because even 30 years ago you had to have an education degree to get a teaching job. My uncle got his degree, but could never get work. Because it was all controlled by leftists even back then.
It may have started in 1920 but it didn’t really hit critical mass until the Baby Boomers started to take charge.
