Former New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie on Wednesday said he is "going to think about" making a third run at the party's presidential nomination following the GOP's dismal midterms performance.
Christie, appearing on Christopher "Mad Dog" Russo's Mad Dog Sports Radio show on SiriusXM, said Tuesday's election results have prompted him to reconsider his political future, with a decision potentially coming within months.
"I certainly am going to think about it now after the results of last night," Christie said. "And we'll see. I'll make that decision in a few months."
Christie, who unsuccessfully sought the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 and 2024, suggested that a third campaign could prove successful, pointing to former President Ronald Reagan.
"If I run this time, it'll be my third time running. Reagan got elected on his third time running, so maybe there's a bit of a charm to that," Christie said.
However, the former governor emphasized that he would enter the race only if he believed he had a realistic chance of winning.
