Scott Bessent: Trump Fixed Biden's 'Mess' — Economy Is Rising

Trump's policies are already delivering lower inflation and improving purchasing power for American workers — a recovery he portrayed as remarkable given the damage he said the administration inherited.

Bessent's interview came as new federal data showed prescription drug costs saw their biggest decline in 60 years after President Trump made lowering prices a national priority.

Bessent said Americans have legitimate reasons to remain frustrated after years of elevated prices.

"People should be upset," Bessent said, arguing the Biden years left households facing a substantial loss of purchasing power, with working Americans hit especially hard by higher costs for automobiles, insurance and rent.

Trump's policies are working.

"We've applied the right medicine, and things are getting better slowly," he said, comparing the economy the administration inherited to an emergency-room patient who had been "backed over by a truck."

I think Bessent is doing an effective job, but I don’t pay much attention to what people say. I pay attention to data, and the data I see is borderline alarming. I see massive U.S. debt, structural budget deficits that extend indefinitely, and a 30-year U.S. bond rate that’s higher than it has been in almost 20 years.

All the cheerleading in the world doesn’t make any of this better.

Cost of Living/Affordability depends a lot on individual choice. The best thing the government can do is get out of the way.

Example. Chicken price is down 37%. The individual concerned about inflation will buy more chicken and less beef in the free market.

Democracy in America is in the market place where people vote with their feet and vote with their pocket book EVERYDAY.

Democracy is not in the voting booth where people vote once or twice a year every even numbered year.

Ah, but Trump didn’t create the debt and deficits... he inherited them. And it was ‘mostly’ Democrats that pushed us into this economic mess we’re in.

That said... this is probably a pie-in-the-sky lost cause... but would you at least agree that the economy would be much, MUCH worse if Kamala or ANY other Democrat had won in 2024?

I know, I know....

I’m dreaming.

The rats left us an economic crap sandwish deluxe, as usual... and Trump is doing his level best to clean up the kitchen and to keep the dishes coming. This, only two years into his 2nd term, I think he is doing a good, albeit thankless, job.... despite all of the resistance he is getting from ‘both’ parties. But I realize that you and those of your ilk wouldn’t give him credit if he personally cured cancer. That much has been well-established.

Not enough cows on the market - and not enough cows in the world to to alleviate the cow shortage in this country. That’s why beef is expensive.

Borders at record low crossings.
Crime rate at a record low.
Manufacturing at home increasing.

Thank you Mr President.

I don't disagree with you, but I never mentioned Trump at all.

As I said, much of this is structural in nature and can't be fixed without major legislative changes. Trump can't do that himself.

'Ah, but Trump didn't create the debt and deficits... he inherited them. And it was ‘mostly’ Democrats that pushed us into this economic mess we're in.'

What is this gaslighting and cover for the gop and potus all the time? Trump paid for votes via multiple stimulus checks[hello wealth distribution and team socialism], his admin pushed rent control, ppp loans, grants and other massive amounts of monies, and that was merely in 2020. Each year was a increase in deficits, debt and spending.

Every year team gop and potus increase spending, that's the nature of these politicians and parties.

“All the cheerleading in the world doesn’t make any of this better.”

i’m thinking that when AOC becomes President, she’ll do a much better job than Donald Trump ... you should consider voting for her since you’re so unhappy with President Trump ...

See Post #11. I never even mentioned Trump.

It says a lot when someone posts a response to something that wasn't even included in the post they're responding to.

Somebody tell the jarhead to stop accepting blame for the economy being what it is and for inflation and home mortgage rates being prohibitive.

Blame it on the Rats, Boy Wonder.
